I'm looking for a new router atm and was going to by the Asus 66 but I've just read some reviews of this Netgear one and even the n speeds are lightning fast! I can buy one for £130 so it seems a good deal. Anyone got any thoughts?

If you really want to pay the premium for a 802.11AC router - i'd wait just yet mate. Both this and the Asus are 1st generation draft 802.11AC chipsets. Best waiting for the 2nd Generation tbh as the 802.11AC certification hasn't been fully ratified yet.

In terms of the difference between the two - it looks like the Asus is slightly faster and has better features:

The R6300 doesn't offer quite as many features as Asus's 802.11ac router. It comes with a DLNA-certified media server, built-in Samba and ftp servers, and parental controls via OpenDNS (much like the D-Link DIR-865L); but it lacks an iTunes server or VPN pass-through. Like the RT-AC66U, the R6300 does provide guest networks on both bands (Buffalo's WZR-D1800H doesn't provide a guest network at all).

The RT-N66U is not a 802.11AC router I believe?

No its not ur right m8. Sorry was assuming u meant the AC version.
Ive got the rtn66u. One of the best routers ive had the pleasure of using. Its got a couple of different custom firmware available for it too which i aint dabbled with yet.

Whilst AC routers are available, theres hardly anyy clients yet. Best waiting till 802.11AC standard is ratified atleast!
