GK110... where are you?

Oh yeah, It would be extremely inconvenient to Nvidia if can match the 7970, i agree.

In anycase it's not £160, it's $250, the price of current 7870's (£210)

Sorry humbug you've lost me now, what do you mean it would be extremely inconvenient to Nvidia. I think nearly everybody is expecting the 8870 to match a 7970, that is the normal sort of performance increase we would expect.

Also "its not £160, its $250" hmmm what has $250 got to do with anything, maybe you misread the chart and taken the price of the 7850.

Anyway it would seem that our currant prices for 7870's are already down to below the $279 +the VAT of course

Note they are £200 as i said not £210 :D

The chart say's the 7870 is $350, it's from before the price drop, they are now $250 NO COMPETITOR LINKS!

Which is (around £200) the chart says the 8870 will be $280, that's around the £210 mark. UK,

Not
Ah yes that slide, the one that predicts the new 8870 giving (7970 power?) for £160

OK a couple of things firstly £250 isn't £200, its £155 even if you add the VAT @20% it's still only £186.

Secondly I'm still not sure where you getting the $250 from, unless your really going to try to use that cherry picked price from the American store you linked too (surely thats a competitor), if anyone cares to look you will see that the 7870's are available for $219 from that same store.

Anyway all this talk of possible prices, who cares, all that matters is that the currant £200 ;) would appear to be after any drops that slide suggests.

They are currently SELLING for $250, look at the link, thats where i'm getting it from, thats a 7870 on Newegg for sale right now in the USA for $259,- and £200 in the UK (Average price)

If the slide Say's $280 US then the UK price would be around £210 - £220.

At thirst i thought you had simply mistaken the $350 US mark on the slide as what they are selling at today, and so with the mark down to $280 US you looked at current prices UK and thought "oh, so take $70 off $350, in the UK prices are £200; $70 is roughly £40, take that off £200 so that makes £160"

If that is not the mistake you made then how on earth did you get to that insane £160?

Yes I did get the £160 by subtracting 20% from the currant prices which I admit it would appear to be post price drop so not relevant. I was also going by what I posted right back in the first thread that the slide appeared in which i think was right when the prices were very volatile.
But anyway I think we can both agree that £200 is a reasonable price for a 7870 and if the 8870 comes in at that then that will be fantastic regardless of how big a percentage faster it is.

you are correct they are selling for $250, they are also selling for $219.99 on the very same site.

It is like saying ocuk has 7970 for £345 when in fact they have for £312

If AMD get their cards out first, you can expect inflated prices. Lets not kid ourselves otherwise.

The same goes for nVidia.

Lets just hope both companies get their new cards out at a similar time.
Discussing prices on imaginary cards is pointless at the moment though.
