Hi guys.

Apologies for a long post...
I've got a two questions here for you :rolleyes: Yes, I did my own research on it but didn't find too much info.

1. I purchased the GeIL EVO Veloce Hot-Rod Red 32GB (4x8GB) DDR3 PC3-14900C10 1866MHz Quad Channel Kit but was sent a 4x4GB kit so I RMA'd it. I'm currently awaiting the right modules to be sent.

Now the kit I originally purchased appears to be discontinued (product not found) on here and on other internet retailers but there is no info why. These seemed to be fairly fresh modules. Also the kit was 1866MHz, I still see the 2400 MHz version around.

Does anyone know why they have gone? :confused:
Maybe there were some issues with them that I'm not aware of? :eek:

2. I had the other 4x4GB modules at home for the weekend and I couldn't resist not to put one in (I have a fresh PC build and wanted to check if all other components work). So I put one module in and realised it was running at 1.65v even though they're rated at 1.5v. I've also heard lots of scary things about i7 3930k and 1.65v being dangerous so I didn't want to risk it and took it out. The mobo had the auto setting on DRAM voltage and all memory profiles had 1.5v on them too (checked through CPU-Z). The mobo is Rampage Extreme IV with the latest BIOS.

Any idea why that happened? (I'm weak on hardware atm, OC noob ;))

Thanks for any suggestions ;)

to get the full performance out of the memory you might need to run it at 1.65 so it can run XPM if you set it to 1.3v it might run at the slower speed of 1333mhz check through CPUZ to see what it states through SPD

@Nightglow
The 32GB 4x8GB Hot Red 2400MHz kit has also disappeared off listing.
Is that what OcUK do when items run out of stock?

@trickynickyuk
CPU-Z was stating 1.5 on all profiles (including XMP). That's why I got confused and thought I would seek advice.

No don't think so, but the Hot Red, doesn't seem available anywhere at the moment, with only the White Frost available from OcUK.

Exactly, I'm scared they might have been discontinued because they had some issues.

Anyone had any experience with Geil memory?

I have never had an issue with Geil memory & all Geil memory carries a limited lifetime warranty.

And Geil EVO Veloce Hot-Rod Red 32GB (4x8GB) DDR3 PC3-14900C10 is still listed on their site.

Might pay to ask Gibbo what's happening, as OcUK were sole UK distributors for Geil memory.

I can't find it on there any more.
Can you send a link?

I will contact Gibbo soon.

Anyone know what happened to the 32GB Red 2400Mhz? I wanted to place a big order on Monday but they've gone off the website but are still showing in my basket, I don't want the White as they will look so out of place in the build I'm planning :(

Caseking,Germany list it in stock, they own Ocuk, so I can't be banned for mentioning a competitor.:D (Hopefully)

I can get these http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-318-CS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=813 for tomorrow but I'm not sure if they're worth it. They cost £40 more. What do you think?

Cost more, they are £50 cheaper, nothing wrong with Corsair memory, but the height of the heatsinks puts me off them.
They can cause conflict with other components due to their height.

I've been considering these, but their a lack of reviews around.

Do not forget I purchased the 32GB 1866 kit for £160ish not the £250 2400MHz kit...

That's why I opted for the H80, skipped the H100 as I didn't know where it could be mounted.

The ones I got are identical in price and speed but they look nicer.
