iPhone 5 worth it from 4S

Guest2, I don't know why you think the 5 is such a big upgrade to the 4S.

There is a big difference between power and performance. You can have more power but that won't necessarily give you more performance. Yes, the 5 achieves massive Geekbench scores. This means nothing in the real world. Comparison videos as well as end-user opinions have generally shown that the 5 is not massively faster than the 4S in day-to-day usage. However, with OS updates the difference here will increase.

In all other areas, yes, the 5 is an improvement, as it should, but certainly not worthy for an upgrade for 9/10 4S owners.

This doesn't take anything away from the 5 though. It's still a fantastic device, but frankly, any mid-high-end smartphone offers a lot nowadays, there is only so much you can add. Aside from NFC, the iPhone 5 goes as far as is possible right now.

No, I agree, its not a massive upgrade. However it is still more than "an iPhone 4S with bigger screen" as some people put it

If you are happy with the price you paid for the upgrade (in my case £129) then in my opinion, its worth it.

The 4S does everything fast already but the 5 improves on it even more. To be honest I wouldn't want a massive change, the 4s is a fantastic phone. Thinner, lighter, better battery, faster CPU and new connection which will slowly become the standard coupled with the fact it didn't cost me a great deal to upgrade - why not?

Ah, fair enough I guess. I think your previous posts were misconstrued, that's all. Personally I would upgrade at £129. In my case, I could argue that I actually made money from my upgrade ;) Exceptional circumstances, however.

Probably, I was at work!

Some people definitely have, a small number sold for around £1000 on ebay! (16gb) Queuing to get mine people were getting theirs and others towards the back were offering them more money

I had someone offer me £630 (I think it was 630) last week

Some people's impatience is ridiculous! I paid £614 (had Apple Gift Cards) for my 64GB, and all I did was reserve four times. Still got it before they did.

This said...I'm desperate to get my hands on my nanoSIM, even though it's coming tomorrow! :(

Had all of the handsets from start, would I get a 5 now after upgrading from the 4S if I had of known better? No.

Have to agree with this! If I could go back in time I'd tell myself not to bother getting the 5. Simply not worth it over the 4S.

The fact that it scratches so easily is a real pain too! :(

You will still be able to take it back wont you?

Never understood why people stick with something they dont like if they can return it.

Not a scratch on mine (yet) Have insurance anyway so not too fussed about how easily it damages

Why would you be sorry for disagreeing?

Because he has some sort of respect for the post and the posters within the forum. Obviously something you don't have by picking up on everyones grammer and generally acting like a member of the forum police.

It's retarded, grow up.

Depends what you're expecting really. It's faster, sleeker and has a bigger screen. Just don't expect a totally new experience.

Pretty much says it all

I'm on a 4S and have no intention of following the ongoing apple enslavement this generation. I'm actually starting to get quite bored of the UI and could be tempted towards the dark side next phone :/

Still that's just me and I've no doubt there's a lot of happy upgraders out there.

Had a go on one in the Watford apple store earlier in the week, the 5 is a much better user experience than my 4, just a shame I don't have the money and have another year of my contract before I can upgrade.

So yeah I am impressed with the new phone as an upgrade, would buy it immediately if I could.

Those people who say they notice speed differences between the 4S & 5...have you compared the speed to a factory reset 4S and a 5?

I have recently had a factory reset on my 4S and can't believe how sluggish it was in comparison with 1 years worth of data on it.

My 5 arrived yesterday it's sat beside my 4s on the desk in front of me waiting for the sim to swap over.

So far I like the larger screen and lighter weight. I took a couple of pictures on each and can't see much difference in quality. The speakers on the 5 don't have as much bass as the 4s, but a bit more clarity.

As always it will take some time using it to know for sure if it was worth the upgrade. I have realised that I need some more cables as I normally have them spread around the house/car/work.
