Upgrade To Gaming PC

Mine isn't a Dual Core, by Dual Xeon, I meant it's a quad core Dual Xeon. Dell describe it as a 4 cores with 8 threads but on any programs that detect how many cores I have all of them say i have 8 cores
Ah you are right. Just noticed it's doesn't list your CPU so I guess Dell recycled the name and I looked up the wrong thing may be?

Sorry but what do you mean by half height?
Meaning physically the case can only take low-profile card...and mid-high range cards don't have any low profile version. If the case indeed would only take low-profile card, your best bet is the low-profile 7750:

the uhh depth of the bracket, some are half height, looking at it again i think that part is fine

your main worries are the length of the card, and needing to replace that psu

I have a picture on my phone which i'm trying to post on here, and like i said, i'm willing to change the PSU.

And i'd rather not sell my system, I want the experience of transforming it to gaming myself instead of getting on out the box

if you can measure how much space you have for the gfx card until it hits that hdd cage or whatever that is, then you know the biggest card you can fit in there, and if you will need the psu or not

tho stu didnt sound optimistic which is worrying hehe

Like i said i'd need to completely disconnect the system for that, If this upload doesn't work then i'll do it :)

I noticed that too and I got this PC as a present so i'm guessing it was customised before hand.
Here is a link to the processor if you want to check it out
http://ark.intel.com/products/40200/Intel-Xeon-Processor-E5520-8M-Cache-2_26-GHz-5_86-GTs-Intel-QPI
From the look of the spec (4 cores 4 HT, 8MB cache, triple-channel memory) and the launch time of that CPU, it would seem to be server equavalent of 1st gen i7, but with lower clock and lower power consumption...so the CPU should still be quite capable for gaming (much more so than a AMD CPU at the very least :P).

Now the limitation would be your PSU and the physical size of the case...which would be the determine factor for your graphic card choice.

yeh just guesstimating unless it can fit under than rack/cage think its going to be a 7750/850

is there space under that for a card you think? they pretty big
and i actually like your case hehe

By rack/ cage do you mean the HDD rack? if so I think I'd be able to fit one under it, its quite spacious in there :P
And thanks, I've never seen a case like it which is why I love it haha. next time I have it open I'll take a measurement of space. I may even do it soon after a cigarette and spot of lunch

maybe one of these might be good
YOUR BASKET
1 x Gainward GeForce GTX 660 Golden Sample 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £179.99
Total : £190.79 (includes shipping : £9.00).

they look short, would most likely mean a new psu tho, and thats a lot of wires to pull out ><

or you could put one these in there without changing the psu
YOUR BASKET
1 x EVGA GeForce GTX 650 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £89.99
Total : £98.69 (includes shipping : £7.25).

The top one looks more like my cup of tea :P
What power supply would you recommend if i got that one?
I've just measured my case and i have just under 4 3/4 inches (12cm) before it would hit the harddrive tray
