5th Oct 1962, The Beatles debut single 'Love Me Do' was released in the UK. It spent 26 week's on the chart peaking at No.17. Beatles producer George Martin has said when 'Love Me Do' was released, it was the day the world changed.

The Beatles were brilliant. They were also lucky enough to be in exactly the right place at the right time.

It's well known that The Beatles were lucky. The music scene was looking for the "next big thing" and it could have been any one of the many similar bands around at the same time.
Doesn't in any way detract from what The Beatles gave us. I enjoy everything from the first album to the last. All of their albums are on the HD in my car setup - no other band I listen to has all their albums on the unit!

I won't hear a bad word said about them

I wouldn't quite go that far myself, but I do only like a handful of their songs. I always feel like I should love them (just because) but can never seem to appreciate what all the fuss was about. Music of the late 60's and 70's is my favorite era in music by far as well.
