Only person excited for Windows 8?

Wouldn't go so far as saying I'm excited but having built a new pc it seemed daft to buy w7 with w8 release being so close. The upgrade pricing seems quite neat and will be good to get the final version installed so that all other software can be installed, bit of a half way house at the moment. Will be the first time that a family member and I both have the same version of windows, which will hopefully make supporting them easier.

Build a cheap PC, bung in some hard drives and create a stoarge pool and have a robust server with drive pooling and parity for little cost

win8 is the bees knees :D
 
Im preparing for it, new SSD ready to install it once its purchased. Im not usually one to jump on a new os but i am actually looking forward to it.
 
I'll be buying it on release, looking forward to the new o/s although not the GUI formally known as metro.

Considering Win 8 is a £25 upgrade at that price you would have to be a fool not to get it, even if you don't plan on installing it for a while.

I've been using RTM on my desktop for over a month now and much prefer it to 7. It's faster as pretty much everything, uses less RAM, and the new multi-monitor and especially Storage Space features are great.

Most of all i'm looking forward to Win 8 tablets with keyboard docks. These can completely replace laptops as the full Windows OS will finally make tablets useful and just as capable as any laptop. And this is the point of Win 8, the OS will adapt to the device you're using. You dont need to have a gimmicky Android or iOS tablet + a laptop for productivity. Waste of money. On 8 you use the UI that suits the device most, or you can transform a touch device in to a desktop PC with mouse + keyboard + HDMI output to a large monitor, then just disconnect it all when you want to take it outside. Dont know why some peoples brains cant understand this simple and far better concept.

One of the reasons why I have gone over to Win 8 is due to an error on Win 7. One of its internal datastores got so messed up that I could no longer install or even check for updates and could no longer alter Windows features. None of the repair tools worked and it was so borked that I couldn't even do a repair install.

As I was having to do a full install any way I thought I may as well see what Win 8 is like, actually starting to quite like it, though I need to get better at organising the start page. It did however require an internet search to find out just how to shut it down! :D

Also been trying the Office 2013 preview, which I was having a huge number of issues with until I found out about Unblocking files downloaded from the net. Which was more a Win 8 problem than an Office problem (though the error message in Office needs improving!).
 
I think most of the people (including me) who dislike Windows 8 have just carried on as usual happily using their Windows 7, there's nothing to be gained from repeatedly posting how bad it is.

People will decide for themselves when they have used it.
 
One thing I'd like from Windows 8 to come to Windows 7 is the new file/copy UI/algorithm. It'd be pretty nice if Microsoft put it in W7 SP2 or provide it in an earlier update.

I haven't seen anything else that great apart from that which would make me want to upgrade.
 
Like Theheyes, I can't really say I am excited about using Windows 8 as a desktop operating system because I am already using it and have been for a while. Though, what I am getting excited about is the launch of the entire line of Windows 8 based devices, such as Microsoft Surface and the Nokia Lumia 920. :)

Yep, there's not much point in posting again and again as it's all about opinion and therefore i'm going round in circles.

I hope Microsoft separate development after Windows 8 and we can have a version for desktop PCs and another for tablets/phones/touch screens, but for now i'm totally happy with Windows 7 so that'll do me.
 
I thought it would be good for a Htpcbut the more iI looked the less it seemed so.

I like being presented with a blank desktop with nice wallpaper not ugly metro when I turn my Htpc on. I auto hide the taskbar which contains.. WMC. Firefox. Makemkv. The only 3 programs I use regularly

Also WMC isn't what it was in W7 so I gather
 
I do like the look of win8 But for me to upgrade from win7 I need to see a performance increase in gaming. Is there any benchmarks out comparing the two? Any link?
 
im more than excited about windows 8 especially the Tablets and MS surface
windows 8 event will be on October 25th then on October 29th windows phone 8 event

It's going to be awesome for HTPCs as the whole start screen can be navigated with a remote. Should mean a lot more apps are easily accessed without having to dig out a mouse and keyboard.

WMC is to all intents and purposes identical to Windows 7.
 
Iv enjoyed windows8 beta for a while now on my desktop. Id love to try it on a touch screen ultra high spec ultra book. But hey, who has 2k sitting around for those fancy gadgets1?!! not I.

I will probably sit with W7 when this beta copy expires for a while then pick up 8 eventually.
 
Why would you do that, you'll miss the introductory price.
You should at least pay the money and download teh file, even if you don't use it for a few months.
