Quick coolant dye question....

What NOT to use, at least in the opinion of most water cooling enthusiasts at Overclockers: dye. Sure, it looks good and can make your liquid glow with a black light. Just look at the gorgeous loops by shazza throughout this guide. Unfortunately, the drawback I’ve seen multiple times is that it will eventually clog up your blocks, causing your temps to go up and causing you to tear your loop down, drain it and clean the inside of your blocks regularly

Got that from another site but not sure on the authenticity of the claim.

I'm using EK Clear premixed coolant.

Does adding a dye to it shorten the life of the coolant??

cheears!

Although that can happen, I think that it's talking more about coloured fluids in general. If you were to add a few drops of mayhems/EK dye then there is no way that adding the dye will be the sole variable to clog your system up (unless Mick has been making magic dyes that expand exponentially upon contact with EK coolant...)

The only thing that the dye would do is possibly stain your blocks.

Whether the coolant itself will cause clogging is another matter...

I would say any coloured fluid or dye is fine as long as you are comfortable with flushing / cleaning your loop on a semi-regular basis.

Lol dyes don't block up ports hehe. Yes you can mixed them we have tested EK stuff with ours and had no problems.

I am dying to put some of the aurora into my rig (when I get my water blocks). What is the score with this as I hear it DOES block/clog ports up?

Aurora is a showcase fluid, it has a short life span (6 months ish) as the pearls that make it look awesome usually drop out or deposit somewhere in the system. It shouldn't be used in high restriction loops (should be fine for yours though)
