Liquid nitrogen in a drink?

No, it was just a made up lie!

Of course its possible, Liquid Nitrogen is used in many food preparation practises. Have you never seen any of Heston Blumenthal's work in his cooking shows?

She won't ever be able to eat a full meal again.

I thought they had mis-reported it when they said they had to remove her stomach :/

No of course I wouldn't... She clearly didn't know it was in the drink... Or at least I hope she didn't or I guess your statement stands... :)

Putting liquid nitrogen in drinks isn't that new though is it, what did she not do that others that have drunk them with no ill effects?

I would think its nothing to do with her body chemistry being any different to anyone else. More than likely it was the person who prepared the drink who probably used too much and likely served it too quickly or something.

well, she is stupid for drinking it but the bar is criminally negligent for making and selling it when it is very dangerous - whoever owns the bar will be going to jail me thinks.

Erm, the drink isnt illegal, it seems to be a very common practice across lots of bars. Most people who consume these drinks dont have any problem.

The one part of the story I'd like to understand further though is about the removal of her stomach. I thought doing so would be a death sentence, or is it possible to live off drip fed food and vitamins?

Or is it more like Cancer treatment where they remove most of the stomach and start of the bowel, but retain a small pouch of stomach, which ultimately means you require medication and vitamins, but can still eat some degree of food.

drinking liquid nitrogen is extremely harmful - anybody selling these drinks will have to do a full safety assessment by law and justify the risks involved, and explain why it is safe for consumption (which by definition it cannot be if it still contains liquid nitrogen when given to the customer). In not protecting the public from harm they are breaking the law.

I'm not totally clear on this. Did she know the liquid nintrogen was in the cocktail or was her drink poisoned without her knowledge?

Either way its a pretty messed up situation :(

It was sold as part of the cocktail by the bar.

Pure liquid nitrogen sure. A minute amount in a bar drink, probably not.
