Liquid nitrogen in a drink?

Coffee isn't illegal either but a woman still sued mcdonalds for the coffee being too hot.
Bit different scalding yourself, to drinking a toxic chemical.

It isn't toxic.
Its exactly the same! One was too hot, the other was too cold. The difference is that this girl lost her stomach due to drinking something that shouldn't have been served in that state.

Hot coffee causes scalding / burning, liquid nitrogen is so cold it casues the belly to explode.

Then again, after seeing all the videos of people eating a whole tube of menthos and then glugging on diet coke, I'm not too surprised that people would still drink LN2, even pure.
Im gonna dare Glozel to to the liquid nitrogen challenge now!
Think you mean liquid state. It goes to a solid at -210c under vacuum.

The difference is quite large actually.
From a young age we all learn to recognise hot food / drink and know how to deal with them.
People have very limited / no exposure to croygenic's whilst growing up, so many people won't know how they could hurt you.
For that reason the bar staff should be warning everyone ordering one of these drinks.
Indeed, it might also have repercussions on the serving of such drinks as well.

Leidenfrost effect presumably applies inside the body too? It won't have been in contact for long with the mouth or oesophagus.
No, but it is still incredibly stupid, if not very sad that she is paying such a high price on her 18th birthday. I'm not sure what it is about alcohol that makes people behave like idiots with it. Setting it on fire, absorbing through eyeballs, ingesting via an enema... I just don't understand the mentality of it.
As the LNO2 warmed in the stomach it probably caused the air in the stomach to expand and burst it like an overinflated balloon. Heat causes expansion, cold causes contraction.
edit: having perforated my stomach before, I really do feel for the girl. The pain is excruciating as bile, acids etc leak out.
