ASUS versus MSI

Hi guys, I'm upgrading my motherboard and I'm a little stuck between two choices. I've always gone for ASUS in the past and was looking at buying the Asus P8Z77-V DELUXE Intel Z77, but I've since discovered the MSI Z77 MPower board. Considering I'll be mainly using the machine for gaming & would like to get into overclocking which board would you guys suggest is the better choice?

Thanks

Damn that Maximus V Gene looks good... but so does the MSI... now the choice is between Maximus & the MSI Mpower... heeelp! :-(

What RAM you using ?? because the MVG clocks RAM very well. It has more submissions on HWbot than all other Z77 motherboards put together.

Sorry for the delay in replying. I'm looking at using this ram:

GeIL Black Dragon 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit.

Cheers

Tony

Should work well yeah Geil is a well respected brand although I have not tried that RAM myself.

Samsung Green is a good choice with this board for overclock ability but the choice is yours its very compatible.

When you say 'i'd like to get into overclocking', do you mean casual overclocking to boost games performance, or hardcore 'i submit scores to hwbot' overclocking?

That affects board choice.

In this case I would not say it does MVG is better for both.

Purely casual overclocking to boost gaming performance. I'm leaning slightly towards the mpower board after watching a few youtube vids, ie: Linus tech tips & may buy from my local store tomorrow but I could still be persuaded to go for the maximus v gene. For instance, my case is a 4yr old Antec 900 so would one or the other of these boards be more suitable for that?

The Antec900 will take a ATX board, so the Mpower will fit nicely:)

Whats your experience with clocking the Mpower Stulid??? So I ask again how can you recommend it??

The MVG was the board I used to come second in the GSKILL overclocking competition out of over 9000 competitors with a 6ghz plus super pi time with RAM at 2800mhz, Clocked RAM to 3165mhz and 3D mark 06 challenge showing the board is an excellent all rounder which translates into great everyday clocking and stability.
