Do the Asus GTX670 4GB Direct CU II Cards need a special waterblock?

Hi all

I am looking at possibly buying the Asus GTX670 DirectCU II currently on this week only (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-290-AS) but I would want to watercool it. I know that the GTX680 DCUII has a different design and therefore needs a specific waterblock and I was wondering if the same was true for this 670.

Are there any full cover blocks out there that will support this card?

Thanks in advance :)

I actually think the 670 version is reference 680 pcb. Have a look on cooling configurator, that should tell you what blocks are available.

Thanks for the advice. I tried it but it only lists the 2gb version and not the 4gb. Does this mean that there is no block of the 4GB? Or do the 2gb and 4gb versions both use the same PCB?

It did partially answer my question though in that it suggested specific dcII blocks and not the general gtx670 ones.

EK do one

As I said above the EK block listed on the cooling configurator is for the 2GB version only. It doesn't say if it is compatible with the 4GB version or not. This is what I am trying to confirm. Thanks for trying to help though :)

Apologies missed the 4gb bit :(

Neither is the 670 DC2 a standard reference board and the current 670-DC2 block that EK offers is NOT compatible with the 4Gb version (due to different RAM layout) ;)

lol they responded to my email with this:

Dear customer,

Thank you for contacting us.

In case your hardware is not listed in cooling configurator please use http://www.coolingconfigurator.com/newhardware and we will validate promptly.

Fair comment I suppose but I was kinda hoping they would just answer my question. Never mind

I had a similar problem when looking for a full block for my cards. 4gb. I just compared lots of images and information across the internet and took a chance.
