you can buy packs using the coin system in the game however this is very difficult to build a good team doing it this way as you'll always have to buy fitness cards / contracts etc... a lot of people trade players to build coins i did this on the web app before the game came out i was buying cheap players for 400 coins and selling for 550-600 coins but theres better methods than this but it got me up to 7500 where i then bought a pack and got robin van persie and sturridge :) (this was very lucky)

most people use real money to get a head start in building there team then play season mode or win tournaments as you can gain extra packs / a lot more coins by winning but the catch is you usually need a fairly good team to win hence why people invest real money, you ask how much people spend...well this varies a lot i've heard of rich people spending £1000+ personally for me i spent £30 on packs but this was just to boost my team i havent spent anymore yet and don't know if i will.

it's quite addictive because it's like collecting premier league stickers or like collecting pokemon :D

He is only 150k sadly. Had RVP in a pack too on release day. Other than that best was casillas and pirlo. I waste so many coins o packs though :(
 
Has anyone used RVP yet? I've got Huntelaar in my team and he scores for fun, I was just wondering if RVP really merits the price difference between them. Otherwise I want to save up for Robben and try him because in H2H he's awesome.

I've spent nothing so far. It's reasonably easy to get a solid gold team together, just don't expect to be signing superstars. I started off by winning a couple of the offline tournaments and seasons with my bronze teams, which gets you a few thousand coins together. You can build your first gold team with maybe 5k or so, as long as you go cheap, and it'll be enough to get you through the first couple of divisions of online seasons, by which point you'll have the coins to start building on that.

As said, you won't have anyone incredible (Messi, Rooney, Ibra, Ronaldo), but you'll have a decent team. I've got Sakho, Abidal, Zanetti, Pastore, Lisandro Lopez, and Milito in mine who are all pretty good on the game. I've had two seasons in Division 1 now, and got relegated in the most recent one sadly but it shows that you can compete without spending.
 
Anyone fancy speccing me a 3-5-2 formation to try. Germans best to try? Something cheapish as I have 2 main teams but 4-1-2-1-2 I fine isn't that great for keep ball play.

So just after a cheap team to try it out.

I have him playing as ST ahead of Rooney as CF. Amazing combination. RVP seems so strong, and his shots are thunderous.

Treat myself to 4200 ms points so going to have a pack binge soon then add whatever I've got to my 480k coins then make a kick ass team which I will lose to Andy's frenchies with ;-)

Same rules apply to anyone:

a: play lots and get coins from matches - slow grind is slow
b: be a lucky sob with packs
c: spend lots of real money on packs
d: trade like a pro

I mainly grind which is why i have no coins :p

Khedira - Lars Bender
Sam - Kroos - Schurrle
Klose - Podolski
 
Has anyone ever tried a team of pass and move players? Ie not focussed on pace, purely on excellent passing, vision, and attacking work rate? Tempted to have a go at one.

I have and it changes the entire game. I built this team for around 500k. It was just so easy to hold onto the ball with these players.
