Asus pb278q issues

A Couple of issues present with my panel..

- Tearing with Ati 7970 in the Windows interface, using aero. Does not appear with a gtx480 card. See first screenshot below.

- A dark shadow trails the mouse cursor and other moving objects on a colored background whilst using either Ati or Nvidia cards. Fix - Use "Trace free" on the panels osd to minimize. Video tutorial - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9fmZ9lgWe8

Looks like you got a DOA there. I was going to buy one of these monitors too but I think i'll hold back for a few more months. Dodged a £500 bullet there I think.

Any owners of this monitor would you please try taking a screenshot of a fast moving window/mouse cursor, and see if what you see above us present on your screen too?

I'm having to rma my graphics card, which I only got the other day, it's making churning noises when the power draw is high, ie gaming. Not coil whine, but a rustle type sound. Even while capping framerate to 60fps.

Not a good week for me. :(

Was wondering if there is a slight possibility that my graphics card could be playing a role? Reason I ask is when playing games, no tearing is present.

With my Gtx480 it's still there unfortunately. However. tearing whilst logging into windows seems to have disappeared. The motion blur/ghosting is still present.

To rule out the pc, I connected my laptop to the screen via hdmi @ 1080p, same issue present. So I can verify it is the screen causing ghosting/motion blur, not my pc config.

As for the Ati 7970 causing horizontal tearing, what could I do to resolve this?

I'm on 12.9's was using 12.8's. Not tried any other drivers. But the tearing is evident using both drivers. Did you say the tearing wasn't there before you reinstalled windows? If so, which driver did you use?

12.8 before, going to go back to them and see what happens. I have never had this problem before. Bf3 used to be silky smooth, now all i get is stutter. And the tearing when browsing, not quite sure whats going on, but if i sort it, i will let you know.

Open task manager and give your browser a good shake and see if your cpu usage shoots up.

Edit. One thing i have not done yet is install the proper monitor driver, you?? Shouldn't make much difference, but you never know.

Gave it a good shake, the cpu rises to around 15% usage (i7 930 @ 3.8ghz). Have you a razer mouse?

Is Aero enabled?

Still using my old sidewinder at the mo, not sure if aero is enabled, its basically how it was after the fresh install, apart from updated drivers and power plan set to performance. Not had much time been very busy.

Hoping to to see if you fix this. You're the only person who can relate with what i'm experiencing.
I contacted Asus for a rma, and they're out of stock. So no new screen for the time being.

I took my graphics card to a friends house yesterday, installed 12.9 drivers without even uninstalling his nvidia gtx480 drivers first, was the tearing present on his screen? No. Back to mine today, and it's there.
