Ireland finds oil!

Well, we could always take a leaf out of Argentina's book and try to reclaim Ireland as an offshore island of ours in order to get at the oil. Oh no wait, that would be ridiculous.

I've always wished for Ireland to become a part of the UK, though not by force. It just looks odd on the map being a separate country.

Last i checked you already did that for hundreds of years before going broke....

Fix'd :p

Looks like we will have to Invade them again now they have something we can steal. :D

Aye me too. It would be nice but I doubt it'll ever happen unless we unfortunately become a republic and completely change our establishments.

Historically it all seemed to be going well until what with the Government of Ireland Act 1914 (giving Ireland the first ever devolved UK parliament), but then along came The Great War and the Easter Rising - where the impatient nationalist minority started a bloody and polarising civil war and decades of strife. No chance of being more than neighbors now.

So much wrong in so little post...

Though of course both sides teach history as they would like it remembered.

I always knew high pressure water was used, but thats the first time i've heard about the process in detail, thats quite fascinating:)

Only towards the end of its life or if it is of particularly high API. Most fields of oil (and certainly gas) are produced by their own pressure. The pressure reduces as oil is removed until repressurisation is needed (pumping water/has down). What happens to the voids? Either the oil id replaced buly something else (a natural aquifyer -look up coming around wells) and the ground above it sags. You can quite easily get a few feet of displacement on a field at ground level, or even more in areas like deltas, which can cause subsidence problems and structural damage if you're not careful. There are normally funds agailable for this occurs ce though and most big fields are in locations where the subsidence doesn't matter anyway.

Completely opposite thoughts, I'm glad we (well the majority of our country) isn't stuck under the British government.

That's like saying japan should be apart of china...

On topic, I think its a good find no doubt..but hopefully history will not repeat itself this time round.
