Hello, i was jus wondering if anyone had any advice on restoring the colour on my car? The metal body work has faded a tad in comparison to the plastic bumpers. I know of t-cut but is there anything that might do a better job? Cheers

What colour is it?

Auto Glym Super Resin Polish may be a little less labour intensive than T-Cut, you'll probably need to do a few more coats though, finish off with a Wax like Collinite 476s :)

surely SRP with it very little cut is going to mean lots more effort ?

T cut or similar , a decent micro fibre and loads of elbow grease

just make sure you dont do anything daft like dropping the cloth on the floor then rubbing the fine grit it picks up around your paint (colleague did this recently , tbh it still looked better than pink)

To be honest you need a polisher as polsihing by hand won't take enough paint off and the car will be fading again in a matter of weeks. I talk from my experience with the roof on my old Micra.
My polisher is a cheap one and only has a 500W motor, and that took around 10 hours of polishing to do a red Micra that had mild fading (in comparison to Vauxhalls anyway!).

Polishing an entire faded car by hand will take bloody ages and the results won't last.

whilst were on subject, sorry but whats the best way to get results with a white vehicle? my works van paint is white and its slightly flat, i have tried super resin but tbh its done nothing. Is it a machine polish that I need to get results?

Thanks :)

Milano red - that's a honda colour right?

My car is classed as Colorado red but is usually referred to as "Colorado pink" due to the colour distortion issue :(

Personally I've found elbow grease to be the best option in keeping and maintaining a cars original colour. Mine currently has umpteen coats of polish and then wax to protect the paint work from the winter. And in spring time I'll probably start all over again :D

it should last exactly the same time

the protection you use is what makes it last

ive seen many a pink car be turned red by hand and be ok . including on here

The roof of my Micra had 5 major passes with a medium pad and medium cutting polish, followed by Colinite wax. It still faded slightly after a week so I did one more pass a week later and really slapped the wax on.
I polished a small area by hand and it was extremely tiring, with rubbish results.

You really must be part Popeye and part Marathon runner to polish a car solely by hand and get good results. There is no way Mr Average muscles could make a faded non-clearcoat car look good again without some form of powertools.
