I'm fairly new to my work place but have got like a house on fire with a few of the characters, I usually have a fairly thick skin to most things, but a nickname has stuck and I don't like it. I sound kinda pathetic I know, but hey I don't like it, I can't help that.

How do I go about undoing the workplace name change.

Just ignore it. It will go 1 of 2 ways, fizzle out or you'll get used to it and give up caring. Crying about it will only make you seem like a douche.

Best course of action is to just pokerface like a botox queen the second anyone ever says it, and very very quickly change the subject.

I'm not daft and I know this is gd, so a name change would probably be called for. I don't want to say.

Accept it or just ask them not to use it. If you ask then just ignore them when they continue to use it they will stop.
Rise to it and it will stick.

What is the nickname?

Well I'm certainly not crying about it, and I'm not a douche, it just strike a nerve every time I hear it, maybe the ignoring part would work, but a friendlier person told me of it today, apparently it's been around for nearly 10 weeks, so most didn't want to tell me as its a bit close to the core.

You need to make up your own nickname.

just walk in there and say 'don't call me that, call me 'The Rapist'.

Job done. i promise they will forget the old nickname.

Next time someone says it, just say "that isn't my name. My name is rotters".

Easy.

True, I suppose I'm just whinging....will have a go at this, honestly I'm not pathetic just having a moment.

Plus a friend died yesterday of a brain tumour, so been a little too thoughtful of everything.

Happens with me in every workplace I've worked. My name is Alex, but a lot of people pronounce it 'Alec'. Sure, it's not a major problem but it's not my name. I wouldn't call John Iain. I just say that, and it usually works.

Get a line manager or boss to pull you aside in front of one of them when they call you the nickname, and publically have a go at you for the name, saying it has to stop as you are still on probation, and they let you go if the arsing around doesn't stop.
Let word spread, name will stop.

Senior manager was the instigator as "one of the boys"....I'm sure it'll disappear if I don't give it credence.
