Fixed high res contact images

EXCELLENT! - but not sure how it works. Do we just sync high res pics again to overwrite the low res ones?

Yep, I guess you'll have to re-add all your contact images in full resolution again. I plan to get rid of haxsync and just use syncmypix to pull facebook images.

Cheers mate. Have you started testing/syncing?

edit - I've redone 2 contact and see how they go...and last :D

edit2: Is there a day that you don't flash a ROM? :p

For me, this has been fixed for ages. I've had hi-res contact images synced to my device with every Jelly Bean ROM install.

EDIT - Re-read and it's probably down to you using facebook photos whereas I manually added mine for the contacts with the first JB update and it's been fine since, clean installs and all.

I have ICS running on my Xperia S using low res pictures with my contacts. What exactly do I have to do so I can get the hi-res pictures? Manually add them all again, do it through Gmail or use a third party app?

Then you probably didn't have your contacts syncing to Google contacts. It was only until yesterday that they increased the photo res on the web side of things. The version of android didn't matter.

phonebook - edit contact - add high res pic

Just updated mine on the Google website. Looked at my phone and it had already synched.... Nice high-res pics on my phone now :D

Well, most of them anyway. I need to take pics of people with the new phone as some of the contact images are from older phones (W800i) and in poor conditions :o

I tried some contacts yesterday - I pressed sync contacts today and they are now LOW RES!! again. How lame!

which google website Richie?

Gmail, go to contacts > Click the avatar pic and upload a fresh high res pic!

I have portraits of most people I know so just upload that way, everyone else is on Facebook anyway so just nick their profile pics :p

I did it from my phonebook and locally stored pics - that didn't work.

Will try from Gmail next...........EDIT - works via Gmail. Strange it doesn't work via phonebook?!

I'm still trying to find a decent app or chrome extension that would do this automatically. Syncmypix just wont grab high res pictures, even though I've told it to.

Cant be arsed with doing it manually all the time :p

I definitely have my contacts synced with Google. Every time I install a new ROM my contacts are all there with hi-res pics. I updated all of my contacts photos via the phone rather than through the web Gmail though which may be the difference and this has worked from day one of JB.

Then you were the only one that didn't have this problem :p

It didn't matter how you applied the photo, once it synced with the web version it crippled the resolution and then synced that lower res pic back to the phone. The only way around it until recently was if your contact had a G+ account linked to them or you used something like HaxSync.
