Ryanair - Got to love 'em

Children should have a mute button. I don't know what it is, but the sound of children screaming makes me want to backhand a kitten or something.

Well what you should do is get the *** out of there!

Women has kid??... GTFO
Kids screaming on train... GTFO
Annoying person with kids approaches you... GTFO
Someone with kids ask for help... GTFO
See a kid in the cinema, GTFO, pay extra for Vue scene 18+ only
Kids screaming on plane... Knock yourself out

I could go on for a few years tbh..

Not related to thread but, if someone with a smart phone asks for directions, punch them in the face they have maps and GPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it was possible half the time, I would. However, on London Buses, it isn't. :(

The flight home earlier had a baby from a couple who can't speak English. During take off and landing the baby would not stop crying due to the change in cabin pressure causing pain in the ear. The cabin crew tried to explained that it needs a bottle or some sort so it swallows and it will help.

Except the parents just looks confused!

25 mins of constant crying..............

You completely miss the point. You should take a child on holiday, but I highly doubt a 1 year old who cannot even walk properly will enjoy the stifling heat or 10 days of the squits (I got it OMG it was awful!) from visiting Egypt.
Take them to the nearest seaside in the UK and help them make their first sandcastle.
Take them on holiday abroad when they can enjoy the pool and are old enough to not crap themselves twice each day.

Taking a baby somewhere like Egypt is quite selfish. Nobody to have the kids for you? Tough - That is part of having children!!!

No he does not miss the point at all. You miss the point. You are the selfish one and it is obvious you do not have kids. I hope to god you never have children.

As a father of a 20 month old I am the one who decides where we go. I also hate it when my toddler kicks off on a flight - but there is literally nothing you can do about it. We are as entitled to a foreign holiday as you are despite the age our of baby. A beach resort in the UK is NOT the same as a resort in Egypt or anywhere else abroad for that matter. We took our baby at 9 months to Dubai for a week and had a great time.

It makes me laugh when people say that taking a baby abroad is selfish. What about the babies that are born out there for christs sake? How do they manage?

Well it's not tough though, is it, because I can still go on holiday with my kid if I want. In fact it's tough for you.

And it's you that misses the point, which is that I'm not going on holiday with my 1 yr old so that she can have a great time, it's so my wife and I can stick her in a creche and chill by the pool.

Finally, as mentioned above, people in hot countries have babies too, so I guess it's not the massive problem for the child that you perceive it to be.

Only been on a plane twice in my life, went with ryanair just for the plain price off it and where I was going. Didn't think it was that bad as people make out, their prices for baggage is silly tho, so I can see how having to pay £40 for a child seems a bit harsh..

The extra £18 could be covering for risk factors associated with youngsters, although not having a seat for her (with the correct straps / fitting) does seem a bit unfair.

It's the other way round with cars and ferries. My sister and her b/f took a crossing to France with their car which cost £300 for a return trip. They then invited me, and the cost of taking me as an extra person was just a mere extra £4. That implies that the car incurs the most cost.

OP, book your car in as hand luggage..

I hate it when people say that Ryanair can get away with being crap because they're so cheap!

They're not cheap. They're cheap for some people who get early flights but for others who don't get them early they're only slightly below BA and such. They're cheaper but then think of the little amount you are getting? All that is profit for them.

People that want to go on holiday to a hot country and have nowhere to leave their kid? It's not exactly about what the 1 yr old does on the holiday, it's about not wanting or not being able to drop your kid off at the grandparents' for two weeks.

What a lot of people don't get is that the people with the crying babies are often very aware that their kid is annoying other people and are often embarrassed by it, however I'd far rather annoy someone and have a great hol than stay at home just in case I get some foul looks from another member of the great British public.

We took our 9 month to Thailand for a 5 week trip & had a brilliant time, (She'll never remember but, we have pic's to show her later) she even slept on all the flights. As a frequent flyer I knew what kids sound like on a plane and wasn't looking forward to the flights. However, at 16 months we went to Sweden to visit relatives and on the way back she submitted us and everyone else onboard to the single most tortuous flight I've ever been on!

When it finally ended and we were in the queue for passport control, we could hear a few people complaining loud enough for us to hear. It was mostly business flyers so at least we heard a few comments along the lines of "Hehe, you haven't flown with your kids yet, have you?".

As for the OP, at least in 18 months she'll be allowed a seat :) If you're lucky people will avoid you when boarding & you'll have an extra seat in between you and missus for in between take-off and landing.

Ryan Air specifically design the interiors of their planes to give you a headache and make you want to drink. It is that bad.
