How do you deal with an incredibly lazy colleague?

Nope, wait until he leaves his office, then e-mail his twitter feed to his boss from his own e-mail address :D
 
His boss knows he is a lazy swine, he has even alluded to it himself but there is more going on because they are mates. I think I will just **** on his desk instead.
 
i had a colleague like this. he would constantly refuse to do work based of pathetic health and safety reasons and even if these petty requirements were fulfilled he wouldn't do the work. things like refusing to empty the bins without gloves and then when gloves were provided he refused as he wanted a face mask, refused to lift anything due to a bad back but no doctors note saying he had a bad back were provided, refused to do an afternoon bake because his colour blindness (which was found out to be a lie) prevented him from seeing when the bread was brown/baked despite the fact the ovens are programmed.

eventually i got sick of this and i emptied the bin and walked into him with the bin bag, he then kicked me and went to the union despite the boss and union saying that he was in the wrong for assaulting me and basically i could have got him fired. i just got a better job.
 
In fact - He keeps sweets on his desk, so should I probably just rub them in my nut sack and replace them in the packaging?
 
Beat them with a big stick.

Or, Word goes around & they are soon shown for what they are, S'pose that's if you work at a place where a dozen people have to do the work of 20 though, You can't be lazy & get away with it in a busy environment as others suffer & they soon kick off.
 
Have one if these at my work. Gets away with doing naff all everyday but then has the cheek to moan when things aren't run jng smoothing saying "we'll I guess I'll have to sort the problem then"
He is good friends with our boss so that doesn't help! Other staff members are scared of him as he is a bit got headed so nobody asks him to do the work they come straight to us instead even though we are doing the same job and he has 7 years on top of us experience wise. Really annoying, every complaint we make just gets pushed aside or turned back round on us instead.
 
Does your boss have twitter? If not set up a fake one and send him a few tweets.

"So this is what you do all day?"

"Hows that project I assigned to YOU getting on?" etc etc
 
We've got someone like that where i work.
Last time i spoke to him i got a verbal warning from my boss on the grounds of bullying. I now refuse to talk to him or acknowledge his presence (been about two months)

He's one of those know it all, been there done that types. He's worked in the job 7 years less than me, but when told what to do and how to do said thing correctly he makes his own choice, makes a mistake...passes the buck and carries on as if nothing had happened.

Most recently he drove out the yard and hit the gate (turned too soon with his lorry) and kept going, pleading ignorance despite 3 of us seeing him hit the damn thing...nothing was done, a nice gouge out of the vehicle though. (drivers side as well LOL)

I work in Removals & Storage incase you were wondering.

I take it the boss man knows him in some form then because if all that is accurate then the guy shouldn't really have that job!
 
hate people like that and brown noses
have more than a few where i work, its who you know and not what you know that gets you up the ladder here, guess its the same most places though

That's the sad thing about it....no.
He started working with us just over a year ago, and the only reason i can think he's still in employment is because we need the additional driver.

We've been very busy the last 4 or so months (talking 60+ hours a week - slowed down this month admittedly)
We currently employ 3 full time drivers (me, him and another) and take on 2 part time drivers when work is manic. None or the part timers have full HGV licenses so are pretty much useless for removals.
We tend to work in crews of 2, sometimes merging when local to another crew. This guy gets an extra bloke for a lorry that holds 30% less, me and my porter finish work faster and with less claims than him (we've had 2 claims this year) we're both 23, started working for the company at 15/16 (we both worked here for work experience and started whilst at school :L)

I know its all experience, but for this guy not to take onboard anything we show or tell him and not get reprimanded is a joke.

I'll end my little rant on a quote...this is from the same guy, the one that hit the gate. "drivings so easy, you dont have to think about it"
