I've only seen it from the spray incident but there's been more **** about the staff than there has about the car.

What a waste of time.

Bernie is so flipping annoying, the fake rage and what not is so over the top its unbelievable, and that valuer that they reckon is the best in the business, give over.

Mike Brewer on WD is bad enough, but at least Ed makes that show worth watching, this crap on 5 is just typical 5 tripe.

I know nothing about cars but surely they cut a ton of corners to get these vehicles done in the time limit? Seems like a full restoration should involve taking the whole car to bits, not just cleaning up the body work and making sure the engine runs?

There's really not much to it, some furry dice and a wash, job done. :)

This programs ok, not as good as WD but watchable if you ignore scripted stuff.

In tonights episode i was more interested in the 8 series the valuer turned up in - just beautiful:)

Another piece of **** program.

The valuer doesn't even look under the car or drive it.
The car was painted in the wrong shade of Green.
Bernie is a **** sacking those Dudes then going back in & having to apologise on TV.
The underside of the car wasn't done properly.
The engine wasn't stripped & rebuilt.
The roof was a complete bodge.

Didn't even bother to ring the competition line.

God help any of the other cars they get there hands on.

It looked like a really half-hearted effort. It felt like one big bodge. I wouldn't want it. Luckily whoever gets it doesn't have to pay for it.

Sounds like total BS, pleased i watch New 5th Gear on Discovery instead, they had a good section on the F40 lastnight.

I enjoyed how much Tiff enjoyed it.
I thought it was a little thin on actual details and experience of the F40 itself (more just lots of shots of it driving) however nice to see all the same.

Although where you can find a straight F40 for £250k I'd love to know..
I'll buy 3 of them!

Is this the prog where they did a 1976 911 the other week? That program is awful. No useful mechanical info, its not entertaining, the car was neither good or original. Utter utter turd

I'm convinced that the car they 'finished' with was different to the one they bought... and the way the rear suspension just fell off... ugh.

As I have said before, this is another example of totally dumbed down TV that our nation seems to consume with a passion. What has happened to our country that means fly on the wall is staged arguments and fakeness from top to bottom.

I hate.

oh and every TV program has to have a Simon Cowell wannabe who shouts a lot and speaks in a way that any observation they make sounds like a criticism.

Sums it up nicely

I thought it was odd that the rocker cover changed from a black/dark one to a polished alloy item and the side lights changed position. Just LOL.

Taken from Pistonheads:

Just found this posted on the TV headed thread following the same arguements as this thread.
Proves the point but raises more questions as well.

Update on the MBG being 2 or even 3 different cars, I sent channel 5 questions which I don't have a copy of but along the lines of confirming if indeed the car was the same as the wreck "rescued " from the barn and about the validity of the 2 week restoration claim. This was the reply I recieved:
Dear David

Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding Classic Car Rescue.

While the production team were filming in Canada, the mechanics in London discovered some serious problems with the MGB, midway through the restoration, which meant they felt it might not be entirely safe to drive. Their original plan was to buy a new chassis, which is a common way that people restore MGBs (you can buy an entire new monocoque chassis for just £1000) and build on top of that. But wanting to stick with used parts, they bought another car and used the chassis from that, transferring much of the first MGB, right down to door-handles, and windows. The cost of the second car was included in the figures mentioned and the end result was a combination of the two.

The programme aims to show how Bernie Fineman and Mario Pacione cope with restoration jobs with a “tight deadline and an even tighter budget” in an entertaining fashion while also giving some background into why each selected model is held in the high regard that it is. It is not intended to, and does not claim to, demonstrate the detailed effort and finance that can go into the high end restoration of classic cars.

Nevertheless, this does not diminish the validity of your opinions and we are grateful to you for taking the time to make us aware of your concerns. Your comments have been logged in our Viewer Enquiries Report. This is circulated throughout the company and seen by all relevant personnel.

Thank you for your interest in Channel 5.

Yours sincerely

A new monocoque chassis for £1000, really? A heritage shell, the only new item you can buy is in excess of £7000.
