I would imagine that there's growth in Arm powered tablets that has eaten into AMD and Intel's laptop market too.
 
AMD are at transitional time for a transitional time.

The market is moving away from Desktop's and Laptop's and into Tablets and cloud computing.

They need to move with it.

The have bought SeaMicro and have just released new high density Cloud servers. That's a +1, but they need to push it now to make sure they can get some revenue from them.

First Tablet APU, which for all intents and purposes is a very good piece of Tablet hardware, but again it's no use having the hardware if they can't get anyone to take it up.

The Gaming Console market is still strong, with that AMD have a piece of their hardware in the new Nintendo Wii U, good.

Sony look fairly solid for using AMD for their PS4, that needs to be confirmed yet, do not drop the ball AMD.

Microsoft are also rumoured to use AMD for the xBox 720, again. Make it so.

AMD have stolen a small piece of Nvidia's market share.... keep up that momentum, the Radeon 8### series can not come to soon.

Piledriver is ok as a replacement for Bulldozer, but Steamroller needs to deliver significant improvements as promised and again be on sale in less than a year.

It's scary to think where AMD would be today if they had not purchased ATI Technologies, that was a very shrewd bit of business given that it's the primary source of their success atm.
 
First User testing of an 8350?

I have been trolling through the net for news on the 8350, and found this...

Let me explain my self first. I am a long time forum viewer and finally took the time to make an account. Last week here in Austin, AMD held a Fan day to promote the brand and others in the area. Everyone at the event received an A8-5600k and a motherboard thanks to gigabyte! Another prize they were handing out was the FX-8350 with water cooling kit. I happen to have one and plan on using it in my system.

Not knowing the bloke I can't guarantee it is real - but having read through seems pretty kosher...

If this is old news could a Don kill this thread?

I know Super pI isn't the end all benchmark, but I do find it worrying when my 960T @ 3.6 (Not unlocked) completes 1M in 19.3 seconds compared to the FX-8350 @ 4.5 which manages 1M in 20.9 seconds.
 
Forget Supper PI, it's x87 based, nothing runs on x87 anymore :)

Synthetic benchmarks relate little to real life app's these day's full stop.

The newer AMD CPUs drop x87 support,so it is emulated in software.

It seems the 1st pass results are around 10% lower than a Core i5 2500K,but the 2nd pass results are nearly 40% higher. The CCB 11.5 score is around Core i7 2600K level.
