I've been searching my whole life for the perfect screwdriver. Ok, maybe not my whole life but past couple of years I've really wanted to find a great screwdriver for pc building.

I would like it to have:

  • A removable long shaft (har har)
  • The right sized screwdriver bit and be high quality.
  • Prefer it to be already magnetized.
  • Not sure if it should be a ratchet style one or not, but would be handy to have the option.

Have a grip that:
  • Is lightweight so you can have better control over it.
  • Won't give your hand blisters after doing a full build.
  • None of that rubbery spikey stuff on the grip.
  • Grip should be narrow enough for cramped motherboard installations or have long enough shaft.

I would have more luck if I knew what size the correct Phillips head is for standard PC screws. Might seem a bit OTT but I'm fed up of not having the right tools. :)

No competitor links. Thank you.
I use this kit in work, there is a regular ratchet screwdriver handle, A couple of extended manual handles with sockets for bits and bits include: flat, philips, torx, sec torx etc I have yet to find a pc job that they cant handle.

Apologies, I wouldnt have thought they were in direct competition though.

You might want to remove that link as they sell some of the same stuff that OCUK sell so they are a competitor

best screwdriver ive every purchased was from the pound shop about 8 years ago still using it today

Not sure this fits all your requirements and not cheap but the best screwdriver I have ever owned!

That driver is an absolute beast lol, tempting XD. The handle looks a bit wide to me, sometimes I have very limited space to work with. I guess I should worry less about the handle and get one of those wriggly extension thingies for awkward places. Going to see what else this WERA company sells. :)

Wera Kraftform Kompakt 41 Rapidaptor Set - 11pc that seems more in my price range. :p £25

YOUR BASKET
1 x 34 Piece PC Tool Kit £19.98
Total : £25.96 (includes shipping : £4.98).

Yeah I hate that kind of handle! Gives me a whole hand blister!

I think I know which shop he means lol. I was in there lookin at their screwdrivers the other day, had 1 good set but it was all precision pieces so useless really.

I don't see how they can be called a competitor, their prices are 2-3x what overclockers ask for. Still, they don't deserve to be mentioned, clueless staff and ripoff prices. :p - Friendly, gormless though.

I've found some more "comprehensive" PC/networking toolkit's. I want to go to Uni next year so I guess it won't hurt to get a good toolkit now. :)

I wasn't suggesting you buy that set from OCUK I was just showing 'PapaLazaru' that OCUK do indeed sell screwdrivers.

What you actually need is a plain phillips number 1 screwdriver, there is certainly no need to be spending £51 odd for one.

I have a series of Phillips screwdriver bits here numbered from 00 to 3. Size 1 is the best fit of the series.

I'd suggest that the "perfect screwdriver" is whichever one is closest to hand and fits the screw.

It's okay, I know you were. :) Also thank you I'll have a look at plain ones!

Thank you that look's like what I want! I will magnetize myself (the screwdriver bits), I lost my magnet though. :p

Blisters from building computers? Seriously, you trying to snap the screws off or something? :p

Haha, maybe a bit heavy handed. I try to be gentle. :$
