is this how fps is now ?

lol you actually swallowed that garbage they told you :p

it was developed for consoles first then pc. if you really believe them well never mind.

Hey do me a favour. Link in the information, interview or article which states that it was developed for consoles first then the PC. All I have read from DICE is the opposite, however you have quite happily said that what the other fellow member posted is garbage so obviously have some other certified information at hand. Either that or you are just posting nonsense. But I guess we will find out when we see your reply to this alongside the proof of the pudding so to speak.

the whole point to this thread is how or faraway from original or " pc " fps are games going to get before people actually stop buying in numbers or games devs actually say hold up a minute this is **** we putting out :p

So you don't think the genre has developed from the original fps games such as Wolf, Doom, or Quake?

I know that question was not for me, but please allow me to give my opinion.

Have FPS games evolved graphically, yes.

Has AI, and gameplay evolved, in my opinion, no.

The AAA FPS games of late are the equivalent to gaming as to what Justin Bieber is to popular culture.

I don't think DICE did say that either DG, but would be more than happy to be proved wrong in this case ;) :p

IIRC, they said that PC is what they were concentrating on and then half way through development they changed their focus to consoles :(

However, given what has happened with DICE and BF 3 and their whole attitude/responses throughout the last year I wouldn't be surprised if they were just saying that all along about PC being lead platform in order just to get all the hype from the PC community and then they realised........."oh wait, there is going to be a huge uproar once the game is released and people will see how it really isn't a true PC focused game and thus won't buy our DLC packs/premium package etc. better just say that we changed our priority to consoles half way through....".

Destruction is worse than BC 2, heck even the consoles have VOIP and PC doesn't and the entire PC gamer community have been begging for this feature since release, yet DICE has done nothing (and this is one feature, which PC version should have!) and they have the cheek to then market it as a feature for BF 4

What am I missing? I thought the vid was quite good.

Dare I say it, Im looking forward to Warfighter. Shame its Origin only though.

I really enjoyed MoH.

AI hasn't improved since Wolf, Doom or Quake? eh?

I don't particularly see the Justin Bieber comparison, but then again I guess you need to be in the position of knowing his work to appreciate that one.

:

100% correct, half way through they changed over to focus on consoles. Which is why the base of the game was promising.

Eurgh. Icons, crosshairs, kill notifications, level up rewards, team member identifiers everywhere. Too crowded.

Just give me an empty screen. Cant stand how games have evolved to have so much information on your HUD, and you cant run ten feet without "YOU HAVE BEEN PROMOTED!" flashing up followed by a guitar riff.

They have taken the addictive MMO levelling/reward mechanic and slapped it onto FPS.

Why is there any levelling at all? Soldiers don't gain levels.

Thats what I hate. its just TDM or DM in tiny spaces.

Unreal tournament is more tactical.

He just means that it's made to appeal to the common person. If you can get commoner #5,786,341 who has never played a game in their life to buy your £39.99 game then that's a successful business model. This person is never going to be interested in the likes of UT or CS due to the learning curve and commitment required. They'll just quit and drop it at the first time of failure. By holding their hand and making it easy to win they'll be more inclined to keep playing, commit some time and most likely buy the next sequel. Thus loadsamoney is created.

A more traditional gamer isn't going to like the dumbed down nature of the game but then they're not the target audience. They might throw in some features to appeal to these people like disable auto-aim, increased AI difficulty, disable health regen or whatever but it's usually just a second thought.

How long they can keep milking it I don't know. I think the trend is already starting to buckle, especially with this saturation of modern shooters. Adding small new features like leveling up and unlocks helps extend the life of the genre a bit longer.

The MP in the last MoH was great fun, a mix of CoD and CS with easily the most realistic sounding weapons and great hit box detection compared to other fps. discalimer *after it was patched* disclaimer

The MP in Warfighter looks interesting, leaning more towards MW type style but as long as it's fun that's all that matters.

the previous moh did have epic reg but they started with the silly dlc literally a few days after it launched and every said you can get stuffed :p

game was decent graphically but the maps were badly designed.

He pretty much said it for me.

For a 30+ year old dude, I thought everyone in that age bracket felt dismayed with the direction the AAA publishers are going?

For me, it is most of the Indies who are keeping it real.

kill streaks, unlocks, levels, etc

these are all wants wrong with fps.

give me timed weapon placements and an equal playing field to duel it out on skill and timing.

Got bored of these identical military FPS shooters a long time ago. But EA keeps churning them out, so people must be buying them (god knows why).

I miss the innovative software houses like Bullfrog, hate EA so much.
