Google Music

Ok this is totally not worth the hassle.

Hidemyass.com doesn't work as it doesn't support cookies so you can't log in.

I've tried Tor and while you can log in clicking accept on the T&C popup never loads, so you can't accept them to activate your account.

I've been at this for ages.

Got it working using Tunnel Bear.

Quite disappointed that my music collection is only just under 10,000 songs though, lol.

Mines uploading pretty quick, it depends on song length, bit rate, connection speed, etc. so it's like asking how long is a piece of string :p

Now, as for usage, I'm having a few issues.

I can stream fine from my android tablet, but the google music app does not support AirPlay.

I need AirPlay.

Now I have managed to stream using the website in safari on my iPad.

This allows AirPlay. Sound quality is good.

However when using the website songs longer than 10 or 20 minutes just freeze, which is very annoying.

The android app seems to cope with longer songs fine.

Has anyone else found issues with longer songs on ios?

Has anyone found a way of having AirPlay support on android?

Am I asking to have my cake and eat it too?

Lol, its taken 5 days to upload 2,848 songs for me!

My internet really is shocking!

It's taking me longer to sort and tag my songs, compared to uploading them. Upload speed isn't a concern for me.

apparently double twist supports AirPlay and google music, I'm gonna give it a go, as I'm sure I'm not the only one hoping to combine google music along with AirPlay

No dude, just wondering. I really don't want to leave my PC on for days and days thats all.

Can I just point Google Music to my iTunes music folder and sit back??

You might have to alter the upload speed in the settings else your internet will be laggy for anything else.

Uploads seem to be going pretty slow.

I'm on WiFi, do you think it would be better putting my laptop next to my router for a wired connection?

I've set Google Music as a trusted application in Kaspersky. Do I need to do anything else like open ports?

Cheers.

I'm going to sack it off.

90% of my iTunes folder is AAC. Transcoding from AAC to MP3 is a bad idea and the sound will be muddy. I guess I will have to just carry my iPod around for the foreseeable future.

Plus its painfully slow.

Maybe Google will support AAC in the future.

Update.

Doh, I totally forgot that I recently re-ripped all my CD's using EAC secure method (basically the best, error free rips) for my HiFi.

My iPod music was ripped years ago using iTunes, which is not the best and masks errors instead of flagging them.

So I have just pointed Google Music to my FLAC library and started again. The resulting MP3's should be even better quality than what is in my AAC iTunes library and currently on my iPod.

Awesome!!

I'd hate to be an audiophile... I have so much more to worry about in life than if my music doesn't sound note perfect :p
