Google Music

Well my Last.FM says 102000 tracks over 6 years, obviously there are duplicates but it's still 1906 artists in my library. There used to be an app for finding out how many unique tracks you'd listened to but I can't find it :(

I definitely don't listen to 36,000 but I wouldn't be surprised if I'd listened to over 20,000.

Can someone help me please.

I've uploaded some songs to the cloud, now I want to make some albums available offline to not use data.

Using a Galaxy Nexus if this helps.

I press settings and i've got "Choose on-device music", I press that, and only one pin shows next to the main album. If it's lit up, I press a song and it just plays it?!?!

No need to go into settings, long press on the name of your album of choice and a new menu will show up, press "Keep on device" job done.

Is 20,000 the absolute maximum or can you buy more space?

Also does anyone know how it gets album covers for the app?

You need to embed the image into the mp3 file, album covers will then show up.

However it still has a few issues that I'm hoping they will fix before Nov 13, it still feels like beta software right now.

Does Google Music have a feature that auto downloads random songs when on WiFi so you don't have to steam? Like every time your on wifi it downloads a random 100 odd songs.....?... I'm try to work out if I need 8gb or 16GB Nexus 4 and also data plan I will need...

Very excited about the scan and match feature!

me too!
looked nice on nexus 10 video

don't think so.

How does it handle you changing song files? Two examples, I've deleted some songs that I'd already uploaded from my computer, will these be removed from Google Music automatically? I've also updated the tags of some tracks (album art) do I need to do anything to get the Google Music versions updated or will it sync automatically?

It can automatically cache music. I have this options set on my Nexus S. Don't know how much it keeps on your device though and what it caches.

In 10 days I have listened to a few albums and a couple of odd songs and its used 1.27GB over 3g. It seems to be quite data hungry ( I don't know if thats because of cache being on) but I'm on unlimited so it doesn't bother me.

I think you would be fine with 8GB Nexus 4. But if you are using Google Music a lot with cache on I would look at an unlimited plan.

On the current (US) service you can't buy any additional storage. May change when the match and UK service goes live.

However, the work around (that some phone apps actually build in I think?) is just setup a second Google account for the overflow.

Does google plan to integrate DLNA or Airplay support into Google Music at all? If not I stil can't see it replacing iTunes for people that use DLNA or Airplay.

I embed my artwork before uploading to Google Music, but you can do it afterwords on their Web browser player too.

Where I would use Airplay I output my audio over bluetooth, you can buy an A2DP bluetooth receiver for about £10. My amp downstairs supports it natively.

Bluetooth isn't really an option for me, as the range is poor and does not support lossless either.

Bluetooth 4.0 is supposed to be better, but as of now, I cannot find any Bluetooth receivers for sale even though it's been around for over a year now. :(

AirPlay support would be great even if I had to use a 3rd party add on, but I'm not holding my breath.

Has anyone had any issues lately with the upload process?

I've been merrily uploading about 2500 songs and then all of a sudden Kaspersky pops up with a warning, so I made Google Music a trusted program (I added it to the exclusions list weeks ago).

Anyway now when Kasperksy is on Google Music won't upload. 176 songs have also failed to upload whereas the other day there was no problem. I'm getting loads of 'error while uploading' warnings.

Adding Google Music to the exclusion again doesn't fix it. If I run GM and Kasperksy together the PC gets really laggy.

Very cheesed off now.

Don't know what to do now.

Uninstall Kasperksy and never look back. :)

I hear ya bro :)

I think I've got it sorted now but it is extremely slow.

Maybe my ISP is throttling me? I have been uploading for a number of weeks now.

I'll try again tomorrow and see if its any better.
