I doubt they offer any performance benefits for us mere mortals but they do look, sound and feel nice to ride.

PlanetX do cheap deep section clinchers.

Had a bad experience with my LBS today, picked my bike up from them after a full service and getting them to replace a broken spoke. Got 3 miles up the road and the back wheel felt weird so i pulled up and gave the wheel a wiggle and found the wheel slopping around in the dropout and the quick release hanging open  so obviously they did'nt do it tight enough and it worded itself loose, checked the front and found that it opened very very easily. And to cap it off i noticed that they had'nt used the same type of spoke or even same colour spoke to replace the broken one on the back. And further up the road i noticed slop from the headset so they had'nt pinched the top cap tight enough before doing the stem bolts up. Won't be taking my bike there again.

And yes i know i should have checked the quick release before jumping on and riding as it could have killed me.

Poor show from your LBS. You shouldn't have had to check that your wheels are on properly; they should have made sure that they are. Not your fault.

Regarding the spoke, if they're not able to change a spoke for something similar to yours, they should have told you at some point, either before changing or when you picked your bike up and asked you if that you were OK with it and reduced the cost accordingly.

That, together with not tightening your headset shows that they didn't even test your bike properly and take it out for a test ride. I find a test ride is important as bikes often behave differently under load.

I'm with you. Don't go there again but do let them know what you've experienced. Hope you didn't have to pay that much for a shoddy service like that.

I dont think many bike shops would have bothered with a test ride tbh.

Still, they should have got the headset bolts, etc done correctly.

Really really getting into cycling now...so much so I bought myself a new toy!

Compared to my Cube Peleton, it's epic. The lightness, especially the wheels make so much difference! I didn't think it would be that big.

Said commuter has a new set of trendy mudguards, and I'll be commuting on that pretty much everyday, rather than only only nice weather days ;)

I've spent a crap load on some more clothing, including a Castelli LS jersey, which is amazingly comfortable and warm. And a Castelli Espresso jacket is on backorder with Wiggle too. Should keep me warm in the coming months :)

Such a nice bike, was looking at some of the Air range last weekend in Chester.

It's a shame that they don't. I've seen loads of bikes changing gears beautifully in a workstand then misbehaving under load. Especially the case with the more 'mature' bikes!

Did anyone listen to Radio 5 live yesterday? There was a 2 hour show called; Peddlers - Cycling's Dirty Truth

Quite eye opening and really interesting hearing people's accounts from within the system. It's available to listen back here (until 22/10/12):

I made an mp3 from the stream but not sure if I can share on OcUK?

Yep, this is so true.

Constant battle with my bike's front derailleur. Sometimes it struggles to get into the top ring, but when it does it has a tendency to fall straight off. You have to be lucky and adjust it so it is just right. It can be changing perfectly in the stand, but when I get out onto the road it can be terrible.
