I was thinking today about Junglestrike and Desertstrike... going to a friends house and secretly playing it while his dad was out. He wouldn't let is play it as it was so violent and "rated 18" apparently. Well, this got me thinking about another helicopter game that was on the PS2, only I can't for the life of me remember it's name.

I think it was a sequel to another well known helicopter game from the 16 or 32bit era. Your helicopter was some kind of top secret stealth helicopter. It had missiles that you could guide to there target and there was a mission set in what I think was an African river delta. It took place at night and your helicopter had night vision. The last thing I remember was that a demo for the game appeared on a "Playstation 2 Official Magazine UK" demo disc.

If anyone knows what I'm rabbiting on about. Could you please tell me?

Not sure it quite fits from what you have put but it makes me think of G-Police (2)

It's not one of the Strike games, they're too old.

It's not G-Police but the flight controls of the helicopter had a similar feel to it. I also seem to remember the game being named after the helicopter (but the helicopter was fictional. so no Apache or Comanche games).

Thunderhawk?

It would be awesome if we got a re-made (re-booted) Strike series of games that were done correctly on the isometric view, also Road Rash is another game I would like to see. But alas they would be ruined by todays devs and probably turned into an FPS.

That's it!... I shall name my first born after you*.

*and then attempt to exchange it for a new Road Rash game. You know, somewhere I've got some footage of Road Rash 3D on an old SEGA promotional video I got from Curr- perhaps I shouldn't say their name. One of the biker cops came of his bike but the bike end up balanced on it's front wheel and sliding down the road. The cop was chasing after it but just wasn't fast enough to make up any ground. It was about five minutes before the bike it something and came to a halt. But, then it was stuck between a tree and a rock so the cop just stood there looking at it... ah, them were the days.

City Crisis

The first PS2 helicopter sim to make it the United States was "City Crisis." The game promises to give the player a chance to pilot a helicopter, and although it fulfills that promise, it doesn't accomplish much else. There is no plot to speak of and features are minimally implemented. That being said, game play can be enjoyable. The action focuses on rescue missions, such as rescuing people from a burning building and then spraying water on the fire. Other mission types include searching for criminals using a spotlight, a function that takes full advantage of both analog sticks surprisingly well.

Fireblade

The next and last PS2 helicopter sim to make it to the United States was "Fireblade." Reviews were considerably improved over "City Crisis." It has a plot, pitting you against a fictional terrorist organization. It has action, as your helicopter is mounted with weapons. And it is addictive. Its one major shortcoming is a poor control interface. "City Crisis" is actually easier and more natural to control, while "Fireblade" has more features and addictive game play.

It still baffles me that there wasn't a Road Rash remake or sequel at the height of the street racing game craze. It would have been practically a license to print money for EA... I might just have a rip on The Lost and the Damned. It's the closest thing I know of to a modern Road Rash game.
