Hi, the AMD spec cost more.

PC 1

AMD FX 8-Core FX 8150 3.6ghz
16gb DDR3 RAM
Asus crosshair V motherboard
Nvidia gtx 480
60gb SSD
1tb HDD
850w PSU & power cable
Dvd RW drive

PC 2

intel Core i5 -2400 Sandy Bridge
8gb cosair vengeance DDR3
Motherboard Custom MSI-H77
MSI NVidia GeForce GTX 470 Twin Frozr II
OCZ 500W Power Supply
500 GB Western Digital Caviar Green 64Mb Cache
Arctic Freezer Limited CPU cooler
Dvd RW drive

Which would you choose? The AMD is slightly over my budget remember.

Is one leaps and bounds over the other?? Good CPU and pretty good card vs Okay cpu and Better card.

I suspect most of the posters here will go for the intel as a graphics swap in future is easier than a CPU swap.

So what would you choose??

Also I'm after a good IPS monitor for gaming costing no more than £160 - can you recommend one from the over clockers store (I wanted LG but cannot see any from the store :()

Many thanks.

Nate.

I've been a big fan of the i5 and they always seem to come out well in reviews. Adam at PC Gamer always recommends the i5.

You have changed a lot of parts in the build, is that to balance budget? You have a different GFX, RAM and PSU in the intel build and a CPU cooler.

I can't quite work your logic out, what were you going for.

Also remember the 4xx series is two series old now. Be worth checking how a cheaper 5xx or 6xx compares in the GFX department. That said I have a MSI Hawk 460 and the twin frozor cooler is very nice. Th newer ones now do this fan cleaning thing as well.

Two utterly different builds going on there, one with 8GB RAM, the other with 16GB, one has an SSD the other a mech drive.

A few questions to help us help you; What is your PC going to be used for? If gaming then what games? And what is your maximum budget for the build?

no need for a 850W psu either with only a 480 / 470. you only need a 750W to sli 670's together

Also go for the 2500k not the 2400.

As for monitor;

YOUR BASKET
1 x BenQ G2222HDL 21.5" Widescreen LED Monitor - Black £129.95
Total : £140.45 (includes shipping : £8.75).

This is great, I have one and plan on getting another 2 in the future. Great colour when set to gaming, movie or photo mode. Quick response time and looks pretty good too!

EDIT: Didnt realise you wanted an IPS monitor, but why do you want one?
NOTE: This is TN

Surely as far as build comparisons go you only want to swap out the cpu & mobo to make it a real heads up race between intel & AMD?
