jelly bean 4.1.2 update killed phone?

Sitting there this evening and just after 5:30pm I got the OTA update for jelly bean 4.1.2 on my Galaxy Nexus. As the battery is is low I put it in charge and then hit install. The phone turns off as per normal and now it wont turn on. When I plug the charger I get nothing on the screen to even indicate its charging!

Any idea?

Try doing a hard reset, you will loose everything but it could solve the issue

How can he do a hard reset when the thing won't charge, let alone switch on? Genuine question. Maybe it's charging but not indicating such.
