We've started looking at my potential new car today. We've had a look around today and my husband is keen on the A6 estate but I feel we don't know enough about the car to know if we're getting a good deal.

This is the one we have seen.

It has the basic MMI, (red writing) so no visual nav and no parking sensors, cloth seats.

Is this a good deal? can we get better?

Car wants/needs -
Estate, SUV or hatch to get the baby bits in easily (current I'm in a Clio and I have to dismantle the pram to get in the boot)
30+mpg (I'll only do about 6000 miles a year but the higher the better)
5 doors
Toys - would be nice to have inbuilt nav, parking sensors, Bluetooth, ipod/mp3 connectivity but each of these is negotiable
Petrol or diesel
iso fix carset points
Ideally from a dealer so we can part exchange my car in

Budget £8000

Pretty sure you can get similar to mine for that price, so long as you aren't aiming for low mileage, and go petrol. My remapped 2.0TFSI has averaged 32MPG during my ownership, and will do around 40MPG on a motorway run.

Mines a 2008 2.0TFSI S Line Avant, full leather, has high MMI, nav, visual parking sensors, AMI.

Definitely go petrol but good luck finding a decent petrol A6, I abandoned my search and I had a bigger budget.

The Seat Exeo is the older version of the audi A4 that Seat are churning out. Although not cutting edge they're cheap and well put together. Bit smaller than the A6 but worth a look.
