Made me laugh, but it's that fast they probably didn't have an option, this thing is a beast!

Yes shame there aren't many like for like comparisons. I like the graphs but the testing methodology isn't great.

Fantastic card though, 1300mhz air cooled and decent display outputs.

I have not read the review (will after work) but are they cherry picked chips or just normal chips clocked at 1300?

Nobody is going to buy a 680 classified over this anymore, that's for sure :p
I expect the price to be around £400 when it gets here though. To some its worth it.

Just look at the PCB though, its what a high end card really looks like.

Not bad at all, 1300mhz on air is pretty impressive, looks like the lightning has a legitimate rival on the red side of things :)

You grabbing one of these 8 Pack?

Edit: didn't read the whole thing, any mention of the vrms used?

I read 20 phase vrm's for the GPU, 2 phases for memory and 2 for PLL if that's any help to you. Its certainly aimed squarely at the lightning and the lightning BE

If the vrms are the same type then gpu tweak will be updated to support core voltage on these vrms, which could let me bypass the 1.35v afterburner cap I have on my lightning ;)

Edit: you'd either have to be very lucky or be using the asus test bios to get even close to 1400mhz, not doing it on a ref cooler though I'd say.

From what I read the power tune limit comes into play with these cards at 1.3v and above, even though they will do 1.4v. I think the power tune 20% limit is removed on the lightnings LN2 bios isn't it?

If its true then there needs to be a bios release with powertune limit removed so these can be more useful for extreme over lockers.

But, but, but... I heard a rumour that reference 7970's can do 1400 Mhz quite easily which means there must surely be no need for this card?? :D :D

You quoted a post where i stated a 7970 on a good custom PCB will do ~1400 Mhz on the stock cooler.

And your talking about not needing a good custom card because you read that as the Reference 7970 despite the fact that i clearly said custom PCB. what is wrong with you? :p

It it is on the stock cooler, its the one that came with the card, and it's not a reference card is it?
