Tablet Boom Leaves Intel Out In The Cold

Lack of competition is a cause for higher cost and lower quality, where would we have been without AMD all those years ago?

Or are you talking about Apple?

Competition fuels innovation and drives down prices, so hopefully Intel will churn out some goodies soon in response to this.

I'm interested to know why you're happy about this?

It is a typical British attitude against anyone or anything sucessful.

There was Microsoft, then Apple, Starbucks, there is Waitrose, bankers, lawyers, David Beckham, Jamie Oliver, and on and on.

Some woman at work hates Andy Murray, she has never met him, all she knows is the guy plays tennis and is good at it.

If it was AMD benefitting from this then fine, but it isn't and therefore there isn't a reason why we will see any positives out of this surely?

I'm all for competition and anything that can drive quality up and prices down is fantastic, however on this occasion I don't think this will change anything.

Have a feeling all the Surface tablets may swing things back their way, for very little R&D costs they have got them working in the first big round of tablets for W8.

The popular surface (rt) won't help intel, it uses a tegra which is nividia.

But still with the Pro, or full fat versions, I can see them selling a good load with very little changing having to be made on their part.
Wont be huge numbers or anything, but it will be easy profit for them for the first year.
