Police taser innocent blind man

I am experiencing no shock after reading this article.

I'm on the side of the police on this one, a doddery fella ambling down the street waving a white dipped stick along the ground can EASILY be mistaking for a samurai sword weilding manic by highly trained police officers.

Sarcasm?

There is no way a white stick can be confused for a Samurai sword. I normally err on the side of caution but the cops involved were idiotic in this case with no excuse.

Tasers were only brought in to the UK as an alternative to 'Deadly Force', to be used if possible instead of Firearms, so a Taser would be used as an alternative if a Firearm was deemed necessary in any given situation, not as 'Torture' instruments for people who won't comply as they are commonly used by the US Police Force, sadly the Home Office seems quite happy to let our Police use them like the US Police.

There was also a case of a 14 year old girl Tasered not so long ago when she was accidentally 'shot' when Police arrested an unarmed man and they decided to use a Taser because he was being 'Aggressive' towards them.

Perhaps the constables in question would have shot them if they had a gun instead.

do they not need authentication from commanders before using tasers?

by the time he gets the go to use the taser i would have thought the police would noticed it was a cane and not a sword.

That is pure incompetence.

Officer involved should be sacked. Clearly the IPC will do nothing though.

Police can kill without reprimand so a small tasering of the disabled won't cause too many ripples.

this!

what a complete retard of a copper, he needs a good sacking. despite asking the guy to stop and getting no response (probably the old geezer was a bit deaf) his next action was to shoot him with a taser? did he not think to get in his line of sight or you know not mistake a white stick for a sword........ utter incompetence.

The police officer should be charged with assault, ABH or whatever as he not reasonable grounds to use force on the man

tbh the way most blind people brandish and wave their canes around it does resemble a 14th century knight in fully clad armor slicing through the flesh of a enemy.

Innocent blind man? Yeah, right. Why would God make him blind if he was innocent.
