As above what would you reckon as a reasonable price with me supplying all the necessary service parts (Kit Bought from Fordparts).

Only thing they need to supply is the oil and labour.

If you give us a list of all the parts you want fitted then perhaps we'd be able to help you a bit more :)

P.S. Who is this "they" supplying the labour? A competent person you know or an independent garage?

Full service on an ST220 will be about 2 hours labour.

Oil should be about £5-£6 a litre.

You may not save any money supplying the bits yourself. The garage is in business to make a profit and if you supply the bits they'll often just jack the labour charge a bit to make up for it. Any reasonable garage will be getting a bigger discount on the bits that you will from FordpartsUK and should be able to price match and still make a profit.

Had a major service done on my st220 last year cost £290 including spark plugs (which is an additional 1 hour due to having to remove intake manifold to get to rear 3 plugs)

(Ford wanted £450 for same job)

I was quoted £265 for a full service from my local dealer and they'll probably price match as well if you can find it cheaper. Got my brake fluid changed not too long ago and when I called them up to book it in I asked if I can get it done for £45 they agreed without any issues.

FordPartsUK are generally the same price as you'll pay from a main dealer parts department anyway. I don't think Ford's servicing prices are too bad in general.

It looks like I'll possibly just go with local Ford dealer then.

Parts I procured are oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, pollen filter, spark plugs and sump plug washer.

Ford Quoted me £158 which I think is reasonable.

At those prices is it worth sourcing the parts elsewhere? I'd avoid Ford but there are decent savings to be had at an independent.

Seriously?

I can understand the getting bruised, scratched, oily (and dirty), and sweaty, but tired? Can't say I've ever been "tired" after doing any form of car maintenance, and that includes 12+ hour sprints when doing engine swaps.

Just added anything I could think of. I'd say your in a different league of diy mechanic though if your doing engine swaps.

paradigm = alpha ;)

Op, I live in an area of lots of flats, and it's bloody horrible doing work on your car when all and sundry are eyeballing what your doing whilst they're smoking/spitting/loitering around
