Realities? You can easily see from behind that the man is old and carrying a white stick, the copper obviously has no concept of thinking planning and acting

Yes in certain rare circumstances e.g. blind person with a large knife self cutting. Safest way to preserve the blind persons life and for protection of officers is to taser them IMHO as opposed to trying to go in with baton strikes. Of course, this is only if a taser is available there and then.
 
No idea but you didnt specify incidents that have happened, you asked if it was necessary to taser blind people which implied in any circumstances.... I was just replying with an example.

So it's as necessary as shooting 2 year old toddlers in the head who are holding bomb triggers.

Which doesn't really happen.

It's not a firearm. Also if you're getting out of a car and you're already close to someone who turns around and looks like they may have a weapon, it doesn't take much imagination to see why it might be fired.

I'm not saying it's right, just that the decisions officers make aren't easy.

Well, I think the safest course of action there would be just to go up and remove the knife from them, rather than shoot a few thousand volts through them :D It's not like they are going to see you coming is it....:p
