Hot New BMW M135i

Really? Was under the impression is was an open diff with a fake LSD effect using the rear brakes.

That's what I thought too.

Looks quite nice I think. Only thing that bothers me about them is that the front grille sticks out from the front of the car. Looks carp when looking at it from the side.

Have any of you calling it ugly actually seen an M135i in the flesh?

Didn't think so.

(It looks much better than the standard 1 series which I admit is pretty awful!)

I've seen a few M sports and they all still look terrible - just because they've put a nicer lower bumper on it doesn't stop the ungainly, melted look front end from being there. I've no doubt the 135 is an excellent car but it's still fugly (imo ;)).

Oddly i really, really like the way the new 3 & 5 look - it just hasn't worked at all on this.

The RS4 understeered terribly on track, you really had to follow the very slow in sort of quickish on the way out approach. If you watch the top gear video where they compared it to the M3 and C63 it shows when the bloke in white noses off on one bend. Had flahbacks when I saw that, falls apart on track and seems the RS3 is the same.

Audi, great at marketing and shiny stuff, dig below the surface and I am not sure they are that special.

I think the colour really has a heavy influence in how that car appears/appeals. In blue, that looks nice up there, but in white - just plain ugly.

Is there a facelift due anytime soon, is that a recently facelifted one?

Huh? We're discussing an F20 here, E8x stuff is not relevant.

Well he was asking about if the car is due a facelift, so I assumed he didn't really know that the car itself has actually been around a while, so that this facelift isn't going to be changed any time soon

And also...

Huh? Huh? Huh?!

I've always thought they were the Apple of the automotive world. I would quite like an S4 as my next car but the tales of lacking driver engagement are certainly putting me off.

I do like the look of that M135i though. The low spec 1 series' look pretty dire but in that trim they look good.

I know the latest model M cars have an electronically controlled LSD though.

Actually I was thinking of the 1M, I dont know what the deal with the M135i is :D

Yeah but I've driven the RS4 and your car and I can say your car has better feel to it than the newer RS5 and TT RS, so yours not doing so well on track shows they must be very poor as Id suspect the newer stuff is worse from how they feel on the road to drive.

The 1 series has been around since 2004, 135i has been around since 2007 when it was first facelifted

Err as others have alluded to the 2004 1 Series is dead and gone as a hatchback now. The M135i is a completely different car - it's the new M performance variant of the F20 hatchback.

The 135i is a Coupe/Cab version of the previous generation 1 Series which they still sell, quite too whom I've no idea.
