Bought a system from OC about 2 years ago and i'm looking to upgrade again, I'm thinking this time I'll build it (or attempt to) myself. Willing to spend between £1500 - £2000, was hoping to stay closer to £1500 though.

I'm a web designer so spend most of my day in Photoshop, need it to run effortlessly. Current system runs it ok, it's starting to lag a bit though when I have a few PSD's / larger PSD's open. I don't play games, other than designing it'll just be used for everyday stuff. Main thing I want is speed (hence the more expensive SSD).

Specification that I've got so far is as follows;

Soundcard I use headphones so would it make a difference if I got 7.1?
Asus Xonar DG 5.1 PCI Sound Card with built in Headphone Amp [90-YAA0K0-0UAN0BZ]

Total comes to just over £1900. I'm a complete novice when it comes to building so I may have selected incompatible components or gone OTT on certain things.

Help would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Thanks stulid!

Is the RAM going to make much difference? If for example I switched from the one you've suggested to the one below;

Corsair Dominator 16GB (4x4GB) PC3-14900C9 1866MHz Dual/Quad Channel Kit (CMP16GX3M4X1866C9) **SPECIAL** [CMP16GX3M4X1866C9]

Or even one with a higher clocked speed (e.g. 2400MHz), will it be noticeable?

As for the SSD, I've currently got a 75GB one, it runs fast but the only problem with it is that when I'm in Photoshop, it sometimes won't allow me to open more PSD's due to the scratch disks been full (I have usually have around 10GB - 15GB of free space on it). So I think I'd be ok with a 120GB one so I could switch to the one below;

OCZ RevoDrive3 120GB PCI-E SSD - (RVD3-FHPX4-120G) [RVD3-FHPX4-120G]

I'd siding towards the PCI-E SSD due to being double the speed of the one you suggested, which I think will be quadruple the speed of my current one. Again though, I'm not sure if I'm just going OTT here and whether it'd make any difference (or only very minor) at all, I just want it to be very fast and run everything very smoothly!

Thanks again!

Also, in regards to the graphics, the latest Photoshop does use the GPU which the older versions (before CS3 I think) didn't I don't think so I'm not sure what difference this will make? May well be able to switch down to a cheaper card without losing any performance?

How do you copy from your basket so that it displays all the info like below please?

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i7-3930K 3.20GHz (Sandybridge-E) Socket LGA2011 Processor - Retail £431.99
Total : £1,370.87 (includes shipping : £12.50).

It will be fast, but the Antec P280 case is unbeatable value for money.

It was like £100+ not long ago.

Bigger, supports bigger boards, more fans, quiet.
