Hey guys, i just got my new CPU today :D un boxed it and took one look at the cooler and thought nah i need a proper cooler lol

so i am here asking you knowledgeable folks on what to get, i have been looking at the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo CPU Cooler but i am unsure what to get, i don't want to go over £30

oh and i have a Cooler Master CM-690 II Lite Dominator Case

Thanks

forgot to mention noise level is something that has to be kept as quiet as possible (hard to do on air i know but still)

Thanks.

Could go with a antec 620 cooler, there about £43 ish. Bit over your budget but there nice pieces of kit as i have one but i use 2 gentle typhoon 1850 on em for push and pull, i use the same case btw as you. I also use 2 top fans as exhausts and 1 front intake.

Not sure for air coolers but the http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-041-AR&groupid=701&catid=2330&subcat=2338 is one of the ones i was lookin at before. Looked to be a nice cooler but im not totally sure.

Thanks for the replies guys

i have Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB

after looking at all them, i like these 2

Alpenföhn Matterhorn Pure Edition CPU Cooler
Arctic Cooling Freezer i30 Intel Cooler

I am not one for overclocking, i prefer to have a quiet computer, but that is not to say i wont overclock at some point.

They come with paste in a tube or a little sachet.

Place a rice/pea sized blob in the center of the CPU heatspreader and let the coolers clamping force spread it about.

If you want quiet, then the Thermalright True Spirit 140 does have a excellent fan and as it bigger it can rotate less to push the same air.

Interesting, i normally just use card or a bit of plastic to spread it out, but this sounds a lot easier :D thanks.

I received a 612S couple of days ago, very good cooler. Bit tricky to install though.

1 x Thermalright True Spirit 140 CPU Cooler (Socket LGA1366/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA775/AM2/AM3) £29.99

At that price the Thermalright would be my choice.

nice, what kind of temp did you see with this ? how loud is it ?

612S is silent with the low noise adapter installed, and very hard to hear without it. On my Q6600 @1.34V 3.24GHz (apparently 141W), I didn't see temps over 65C on the hottest core, which is great considering my D14 saw temps of around 56C in the same case with better fans installed. Temps are good considering the case doesn't have good cooling, it is a Coolermaster Silencio with 1 mediocre airflow 140mm fan up front from my Fractal case, and 1 cheap 120mm fan at the bac.

The 612S is very good, quite wide only just fit it inside my case. The installation is easy albeit a bit fiddly. Matterhorn is PWM though it seems to spin faster so the fan might be louder. I do like the fan brackets for the 612S, they look good and are easy to use.

You can see that it is quite wide, it look's really good in real life, better than in pictures. My only quibbles are that I don't think Coolermaster sell the fan separately so that I could add another of the same (I haven't checked though), and the installation is easy but was fiddly in my case.

At the same price I would have chosen the Thermalright hands down though, the Thermalright fan is very good, also PWM (system controlled).

holy crap the size of that thing! really don't want anything that big in my case lol when you see it inside a case wow! massive!

is them liquid coolers any good ? i guess i could squeeze my budget for one of them.

antec 620 i get 31 on idle at stock and 50 ish on load in prime. When i tried a quick overclock to 4.2ghz it was 32 idle and 60 or just under on load in prime. This is push and pull with gentle typhoons 1850 fans which i got cheap off the bay.

With quiet fans on them I guess they are good, does put the price up a bit though... also not sure how long they last. A heatsink is sealed and will last until it rusts or the fan dies.

The True 140 is much shallower.
