Looking to put a build together using an Asus P8Z99 Deluxe motherboard and was pretty much decided on the HAF X until Ace Modder came along with the NZXT tease.

Anyways I did check out the NZXT 820 but thought it was too expensive.

I did like the look of the 810 but not too sure I get anything I need from the 810 that I don't get from the HAF X.

I really don't need the fan controllers as I think the Asus board handles that at the moment.

What else would you recommend for a Full Tower, using Air Cooling, in this price range?

I'd throw the RV03 in to the mix as well myself, as above.

Especially if you want watercooling, the RV02 and RV03 (and technically FT02), along with the HAF X are right at the top. The RV02 is actually slightly better than the RV03, but probably not £45 better...

The 810, is very feature packed. In my opinion though it looks cheap, taccy and probably won't age well.

In your situation I'd probably pick the RV02 or RV03 as I prefer the styling, but the HAF X is a very solid case if you like the 'gaming' style.

If you really 100% don't plan on going watercooling then yea the silverstones are among the best for air cooling depends really on what else you need and the budget but for air the switch 810 (more about water cooling in mind) and even haf x would be way down my list because I hate the open side panel and it's overall dust magnetness and noise.

£100 ish
Rv03
Rv02
Fractal R4

£100 +
silverstone ft02

Few others I cant think of right now but all in all I'd probably go with a silverstone depends whether you want quiet or not I own an rv03 and It's louder than my silverstone ft01 but that has sound deadening foam, it's whisper quiet compared to something like a haf x though.

@KD various reviews and customer feed back suggest that the 810 does have some cheap plastic bits that break.

The Silverstone FT02 appears to be solid although I am not convinced about turning things round by 90 degrees.

Would forums readers agree that the Silverstone cases are a little bit better in quality terms than the coolermaster or the NZXT cases?

The Haf X may get the nod as the Silverstone is £189 vs £125 for the HAF X.

Main gripe with the HAF X is only SATA 2 on the hot swap bays. This is not something that the Silverstone improves upon.

I wouldn't get the haf x way too noisy just saying I think it would be a mistake to lay down £125 on a haf x it's just not worth £125 I have seen and heard one in the flesh and it's a noisy bugger.

If noise is the only problem, that can be solved by replacing some of the fans.

Some Silverstone cases appear to come with a unique fan size (180mm or 181mm) which forces you to buy only Silverstone fans. Don't like that.

Well it can be solved by covering up all the openings on the haf x but there's way too much plastic and bad styling going on for £125 in my opinion.
Yea at £15-£18 (the 181 is not mm but the updated model) the fans are pricey but they are probably better than most fans out there I think it's agreed by many that the inverted motherboard design is very good for air cooling the 180mm air penetrators are very highly regarded just compare it's fan blades to all the other 180mm + fans.

I have a similar question but need a case with a side fan. Are there any other worthy alternatives to the Haf-X? I'm not too concerned about fan noise as I have a fan controller.

I had another look at the NZXT 810.

Read all of the less than 5* reviews on large US site to get a flvour of what the problems were.

To be honest there was nothing much to worry about and about 75% of users gave it 5*.

NZXT also has a SATA 3 hot swap bay, most of the others just have a SATA 2 hot swap bay.

Check out the videos on youtube.

You may like the angled internal fans in the 810.

why do you need a side fan ? yea there are loads of worthy alternatives to the haf x
I have an air vent on the wall right not to my computer so I can duct in cold air from outside directly into the case. This is the only air that goes into the case so especially in winter I get nice cold air going in. This is the reason why I need a fan on the side. The only cases that are suitable in this category seem to be the HAF X & 932 Advanced.

Very nice case but no side fan unfortunately.

I run Tri Sli in a Switch 810

Excellent air cooling and you can hardly hear than fans.

Hottest Gpu max temps during gaming 55 degrees.

The internal angled fans do a superb job.

Just my 2 cents

Ps - Gpu's are air cooled

I picked up the HAF X and I have to comment on how quiet it is. The loudness must be all down to the rear 120mm fan which I don't have on. I'm used to practically silent PC as in my previous case I only had 3 Yate Loons all at 7v and this includes the 2 heatsink fans. The HAF-X is just as nearly just as quiet; the loudest thing now is my hard drives which were previously suspended.

it's impossible to be quiet with an open side depends what gpu coolers you have in there too and everything else I suppose any case can be made quiet but it's just not going to be quiet if say you run sli or xfire with an open side
