Considered that a few times, it's about 60 quid return iirc. But I'm nowhere near the station in Exeter so by the time I park down there I'm only about a tender better off
Interesting, maybe worth some more investigation. He said himself that he's not an LPG guy but that was his view. Guessing I'd be looking at about 1500 for the conversion?

25k a year in a 1 Series though, no thanks! What about an A4 1.9?

You are right be be concerned about running costs but there is nothing about a 1 series that makes it exempt from the costs associated with the next class up.
LPG conversion prices vary, there are individual installers that take 4-5 days and charge 1500 plus and then there are one day installers who have around 6 guys working on the car that will do it for about 1k.
I went to one of the one day installers as they got good revievs on Lexus owners club. The lexus cost £1100, the audi cost £1000
Bear in mind you will NOT get the same MPG as pertol due to LPG, factor around 10% less and you wont go far wrong when calculating the savings.
I used www.leedslpg.co.uk as they had good press on the owners club. Various LPG forums dont favour these "one day wonders" over independant guys who take 4 days etc, as they believe they cant possibly do a thorough job in just 1 day. But like I say they have around 6 guys working on various parts of the car, ive had no issues, being a mechanic i've had a good look over it myself and its spot on, 2 year warranty too.
I went for the standard conversion. They, themselves reccomended it as they'd had good results on previous Lexus conversions, so seemed pointless to pay extra.
