Does anyone know which is the quietest card available (using fans)? I got a fractal r4 case and now i can clearly hear the whine of my gtx570 when playing games and the fan ramps up; before it was masked by noisy case fans.

The Gigabyte Windforce is one of the quietest; I can't hear my card at all when it's idle. Another one, if previous generations are to be considered, would be the Gainward Phantom.

The windforcex3 is an exceptionally quiet card, even with auto fan setting. Ive seen people on different forums who bought the wf, then put it under watercooling. Very pointless, as it runs so quiet on it's stock cooling, voltage is locked so you cant clock it any higher so even wc is pointless if your after high clocks.

Windforces are, I believe, the quietest coolers (2 slot)

The ASUS Direct CUII comes on top on all tests I have seen regarding temps and volume.

I thought anthony was right above saying the Asus is the quietest.

Correct (although the phantom comes pretty damn close), but it takes up 3 slots on the higher end models. The 2 slot variant isn't vastly quieter than the WF and I'd choose Giga ovr Asus ANY day

MSI 670 PE is pretty quiet as long as you have decent case ventilation / cooling and ambient room temp isn't sub-Saharan. You basically need to keep the fan speed below 50% and then it just sort of vanishes into the background case fan noise (slow running gentle Typhoons in my Lian Li case ... so these are pretty quiet fans).

Though I suspect as already stated, that the ASUS card "is" the quietest, or so pretty much all of the group tests say.

PS. I just luv the noise coming from the KFA card :D:D:D

They're all pretty much inaudible at idle, load isn't much different either, can barely hear my 670 ftw and apparently it's noisier than the WF and the CU II so either will be fine.
