Good Gaming build?

not really, I guess like most occasional shoppers, you go with what you know most of the time...

interesting about the CPU difference, does having the Ivy bridge version of the i5 and no the the sandy bridge give it the same issues as the i7?

Also, with the 680 vs the 670, would you not recommend getting it if you could, and not have to justify the extra cash? If it's definitely not worth it then I'd consider going back to the 670, it's what I looked at 1st anyway)

Ivybridge uses less power and has a better IGP than sandybridge, it also does more clock for clock so dont worry about trying to match the overclocks.

The IGP is used by quicksync to help with video encoding and can be used by the lucidMVP software to boost the GPU performance too.

The 670 is a cutdown 680. They cut off very little though, a few cuda cores and a lower clock speed. You'll notice my suggested 670 is already heavily overclocked to counter this, the GB 670 is good too.

Remember with nvidia you also get cuda support, you really wont miss the hyperthreading the i7 gives you ;)

Well, thanks for the info chaps, I open to more suggestions too, as it will be a month or two before I get the cash in my hands... grrr
