Her 52 plate Astra is getting a bit long in the tooth. It's done about 85K miles and is using silly amounts of oil so time to trade in. She doesn't want to spend more than 4K so choices are a tad limited. I was thinking maybe a Ford Focus? Although i'm struggling to find one at a decent age and mileage for 4K. Opinions anyone?

Trust me if she wants something half sensible just find her the best, convince her to buy something else and when it gets a puncture it'll be your fault.

Should be able to find a focus under 4k as i picked one up coming up a month for just under 3k thats a very tidy example

She wants something as new as possible with as low miles as possible as she does a fair distance to work and back every day (50 miles total per day).

Seen a nice 58 plate Fiesta 1.25 zetec with 22K on the clock for 4.5K which i'm currently suggesting to her. She's whining that the engine is too small though.

Yes and yes, if she thinks the fiesta engine is too small how about a swift sport or a petrol zetec S (the diesel is needless here and crap anyway)?

Depending which version it is it may have more power than her outgoing Astra.

Get her to drive one

Think it has 75bhp and her Astra about 100bhp. But then the astra is probably quite a bit heavier. But then try explaining that to a woman

Edit: Just checked, hers is the 8v which is only 85bhp.
