Hey, so sometime last week my computer starting to run extremely slow, some kind of FPS issues (I bought the cataclysm hogger).

I cleaned it out (Inside), scanned for virus's and defragged my PC, but nothing seemed to changed (I also used CCleaner).

When i googled how to factory restore my PC, everyone talks about a system disc that came with the PC (The only disc i have are the driver ones and the windows disc).

How can i revert back? :(

Thanks in advance!

You need to reinstall Windows but you will loose all of your data so back up first, you may be able to do a system restore ....Control panel > System and security > Backup and restore but I prefer to do a clean reinstall

what make and model is the machine?

what os is it running?

you'll probably find that your pc manufacturer provided you with a resore disk when you bought it that will only work with their brand of pcs, so you'll need that or a new windows install disk if you want to get back to 'factory settings'

I already backed everything up. Would inserting the windows disc given with the pc not put it back to factory settings?

Hmm, i bought the PC from overclockers (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-168-OE) practically exactly the same as that.

The only disc that came with the pc are the windows 7 disc, asus chipset support dvd and POV graphics driver CD.
Put the Windows 7 disc in and boot from it. Go through the installation process making sure you format your hard drive. Once finished your PC will be at 'factory settings'.

As above, BACKUP before you do this!

back everything up slap the windows 7 disk in and boot of it by rebooting off the cd, delete the partition format and reinstall

Brilliant, thanks for your help! Got everything i need on my portable hard drive and on my laptop!

Once again, thanks!

Hmm so, when i got to the partion section, ot showed 2 hard drives, one was 100mb and my primary one was 500gb. I couldnt delete the promary one, it was greyed out :(

Do i just continue?

If you have backed everything up you can delete all the partitions and when you click continue after doing that it will recreate them all with correct settings.

click on it and click delete.

Windows 7 should not realy needed be reinstalled as such. Maybe try and look in to what is slowing it down ?

My harddrives look exactly like that picture. The smaller hard drive says it cant be deleted and the larger one has all the options greyed out, not allowing me to click any. Ive got so much crap on my pc id rather just start from fresh :(

How did you start the windows installation? never heard of drives not being deletable in windows installation.

Need to select custom advanced. then click on (drive options) advanced.

Needs to look like this when you are about to click next

I booted up from the dvd. It finished installing but it made an extra folder called windows.old which had like everything from the harddrive previously.

The second image you linked were it is greyed out, thats what it looked like (but with 2 drives)

it sounds like it didn't wipe the drive before it installed. if that happens to me it annoys me enough to wipe it all and install it again.

If its still running slow after i install drivers etc, ill take a picture of the drives i see when i do it again.

Thanks for all the help guys!
