GTX 670 isn't an option.

Its purely price/performance that gets onto that list. And at the moment, nvidia are getting owned in price/performance by AMD. Nothing really to discuss

Aye, can't disagree. The only reason I have a 670 is because I got an overclocked model cheaper than usual, and because of the texture/artifact glitching issue some users with 7*** cards are getting and as I could notice the issue easily, I couldn't wait until it was fixed.

Even this overclocked 670 isnt that much faster than my 7950s were, and they were a decent smack cheaper.

Well the 7950 isn't there either. They've gone from a £200 recommendation to a £300+ recommendation.

Best PCIe Card For ~£280: None

But for £350 a 7970 is, eh, when a 7950 for even less can get to 7970 speeds.

I'm still happy with my 670, wouldn't change it even if I could.

I just thought you guys might of been interested, I guess it's pointless, but then aren't a lot of things in life.
I apologise if I've sullied this board with my thread.

I'm sill getting a 670 ;)

The 670 is total rip off in in my eyes, the 7950 will play anygame at max and has more vram to boot :\ for £100 cheaper then the 670.

Nvidia need to stop being greedy, ive noticed over the years all the 70 class nvidia cards plummet in price after a while, theres noway id pay £300+ for anything other then amazing.

Normally I'd agree with you; but it only cost me another £40 over my old Vapor-X, and did away with the issues I was having; so to me it was worth the £40 so I didnt have to keep RMA'ing damn cards or putting up with texture artifact/flickering.

I've had 3 7950's trying to eliminate this issue, (2xVTX X-Edition, 1x Vapor X), when you can get overclocked 670s for ~300, it's not suddenly such a massive difference; admittedly at the 'normal' prices it's not so great.

That said I do think the average GTX670 should be more the £260-280 mark, not £300.

I'm hardware agnostic, I buy whatevers best bang for buck at the time I buy, and yes the 7950 was it, unfortunately the extra £50 was worth it in this case for piece of mind. I will still buy whomever is best BFB next time as well.

But when both cards are overclcoked doesn't the 7950 perform on par with the 670? Some games the 7950 has come on top quite fairly well and we are talking about a card £100 cheaper

Up untill 2 hours ago, I would have agreed with you...Time will tell and hopefully the new drivers improve all games and not just 3dmark11/heaven/BF3

haha due to the 12.11 drivers ;)

But what I mentioned above I got it from a graph I saw testing the 670 and 7950 in bf3 and this was before the 12.11 driver. I would love to see an updated version with the 12.11 drivers .

Its not that i wouldnt have a 670 as no doubt it will play everything max and be a great solid card its just the price but Nvidia know it will sell and its in 9/10 of all the Game Rigs LOL so they are selling!!

But like Alexrose1uk says £260-£280 is more suitable and then it WILL sell.

"Best card for the price" isn't the same as "Best card for you" - it's all about individual needs.

I had bought 3x AMD Radeon HD7950 3GB cards without hesitation IF they had PhysX and CUDA support.
I have a really hard time seeing when I ever will go back to AMD, which frankly I'm saddened about since I really like the card.s The last ones I had were HD5970,HD5850,HD5830.
I just can't give up on PhysX...

I usually went with Nvidia card over the years, but this changed due to the time I purchased a new machine, just after the HD7970's came out. Am happy with the card, as my previous model was a 295, but might have to put the overclocks back as I experienced some slowdown when playing WOW at the weekend

The 670 is a good card however it is being over shadowed by the fact that AMD prices are so good at the moment.

The thing is the AMD is cheaper, has unlocked voltages and so in the right hands can be overclocked nicely which in turn can give better performance than the 6** cards.

A week ago I would have recommended the 670, but with the Never Settle games bundle and drivers and the fact that AMD have continued to slash their card's pricing you'd need to have a very good excuse to choose a 670 over a 7950/70.
