Hello All,

Our last intern, Dirtycincilla from the forums, has moved on to his next career move after a year working with my company. We are a consulting firm specialised in the economics of leisure and entertainment businesses. Before I contact universities / agencies, I wanted to see if any OcUkers would benefit. We are looking for a student in an analytical field (under or post-grad) to help with research and analysis around their studies and from home. This is paid internship rather than slave labour.

I hope the moderators don't mind me posting this, I can easily find someone through other channels but last time I think it worked out well and benefitted a forum member, well two to be precise. :) Obviously please remove if you think this is inappropriate (but I have been careful not to include details of company so hopefully not seen as promotion). Email in trust if interested.

No one has bitten your hand off yet?! I am surprised!

Where is the job (not for me but someone I know)?

Working from home, just need a computer and broadband. So wherever someone is at University. It's not a 40 hour a week job, just an internship to fit around studies, earn some money, learn some skills etc. Amount of hours basically on demand. Dirtycincilla varied it depending on how busy his course was, we varied it depending on how busy we were and we took his hours to nothing at his request during exams for example. Better for the CV than working in the union bar and hopefully more interesting. Between our three partners we have a lot of experience to share 40+ years between us and all masters level qualifications. We work with theme parks and attractions, resorts, venues.

I will pass the message on to the person I have in mind - but yes a great opportunity for someone at Uni, very surprised this thread is not 30 post long by now. I guess all the students are still in bed or in lectures!:D

Could be interested in this. Particularly busy at the moment study time wise, but still curious.

What kind of models etc... would you want used?

Basically could you expand on knowledge needed?

I hope so, worked out well last time. Some tasks are basic web research but by the end DirtyC was building market models and doing mapping and more interesting stuff.

We have our own proprietary financial models and to be honest that comes later. Market modelling, drive-times, weighting regional data to create forecasting tools for population and tourism. But also basic statistics gathering, gathering price and performance info on comparable developments for benchmarking, phone research etc.

A great opportunity again, it's not for me but I appreciate they you considered ocuk first.

Now c'mon pen testers/ digital forensics get some internships up for us ;)

Hmm, I think I'll have to leave it. Final year now, and whilst I probably could find time to do it, I'd rather spend that time at the pool or taking photos.

Absolutely fantastic opportunity for a member though. Great that you'd do this for them.

I would have chewed your arm off for this back when I was a student/recent graduate. It's awesome that you'd extend the opportunity to the OcUK community. Thumbs up to you, sir :)

Thanks :P.

This sounds like an ideal opportunity. Are you looking for someone to stay for the whole year, i.e. would you be insulted if I left after 3 months because I received a 9-5 job offer elsewhere. Basically is this role better for someone currently in education rather than a graduate looking for work?
