Hey guys, the battery on the S2 doesnt seem to last long, it forces to charge the phone nearly everyday. is there anyway to make it last for like 24 hours even on idle. I have turned 3G off and left Wifi and 3G on. Try to turn brightness down and it is on ICS 4.0.

Cheers

Wifi kills the battery, i have to charge mine everyday if i leave wifi on, turn it off when you don't use it.

Currently my phone says its been on battery for 7 and a half days with 33% left, which i don't think is correct, but if you leave wifi off unless you're using it you should get 3-4 days out of a single charge.

my phone normally lasts 8-10 hours with normal use. few games calls texts and Facebook. if i just left it idle i think it would do easy 20 hour

grab the latest rom, find an extended battery, give 'juice defender' a go,mess with customer kernels if you have the time.

pretty much that really.

but if you leave wifi off unless you're using it you should get 3-4 days out of a single charge

72 hours + ?? pics or it didn't happen....

I've had 4 days when I was using CM7, but then I barely had the screen on (which is near-pointless on a smartphone, but I have done it). CM10 (Paranoid Android) is even better on idle battery (the phone uses a whopping 2% of battery overnight with the standard battery).

In my experience, the Samsung-based ROMs never get as good a standby battery, but then the CM-based ROMs have always had rubbish battery life when the screen is on.

Anyway, regarding Wifi... I thought turning Wifi off decreased battery life, as 3G uses more power. Perhaps that depends on how strong a 3G signal you've got?

Actually WIFI will use LESS power than 3G.

3-4 days? Hah Billy No mates :p

Yeah 3G will use more power than WIFI.

maybe he doesn't have any friends to phone or text he he

I should have said you "could" get 3-4 days out of a charge lol, it is possible but obviously not if you're using apps all the time and/or texting/phoning people. But that being said having the wifi on absolutely kills the battery.

This, but I think he meant when out of wifi range.

Turn Latitude off if you have it enabled. Uses far too much power.

Replace the battery with a new one (I personally would go for a genuine Samsung one rather than a 3rd party one).

I never made a claim about which one uses more power vs the other.

I don't have research or websites backing up my claim either but from personal experience i can safely say that i've noticed considerably longer battery life when i don't have 3G and WIFI on.

As for being a billy no mates i use my iPhone for calls and keeping in contact with people. ;) I use my S2 is just for a few apps when i'm at home Which with WIFI off and no 3G is probably why it lasts forever.
