As I remember it this forum is one of the pure type running only very minor mods/plugins and its that way for a good reason! I remember back in the old days (pre nuke probably around 2000) the server use to fall over on a regular occasion because of unstable plugins, I think it was Eyedot that ran it all back then (on Spie's behalf) and it was said the only mod to the forum would be the trust system!

The forum is too big for that, you could potentially get thousands of thanks per post. Maybe a + and - system that tallies the count in one icon could work, but not sure if such a thing exists.

It would just result in clique behaviour with good new posters being ignored in favour of the ones with the high approval rating.

Good advice in the technical forums doesn't mean good advice in the lifestyle ones etc.

A single + / - system, like the Daily Mails comments section, would also be pointless as its open to abuse and doesn't really provide any value.

To be honest I think we should go the opposite way and even scrap the spot counts. Just have it stored privately for the purpose of members market and he free delivery deal.

This forum works perfectly and has done far longer than most members now have been a part of it.
