H100 didn't seat properly

Corsair pumps are always doing it mate, im on my 5th h80 and thats started grinding at random times, its a manufacturing problem. You can RMA it with corsair

The pump issue is caused by the tight voltage tolerance. It does not like voltages 12.2v or over. The later revised model has a looser tolerance and can cope. My 12v output is 11.96v so i don't hear any noise unless i put my ear next to the pump. From what i have read the revised models start with the reference number 1227 upwards. Mine is 1219 with no issues (yet).

Tight volatage tollerance is only part of the problem. I hope you are correct about the revised model. Taken way too long to resolve the Hydro problems.

Corsair reps on other forums confirmed they have revised them by fitting a greater voltage tolerance impeller and recessing it more.

I believe Corsair reps about as much as I believe politicians.

I will believe the problem is resolved when buyers stop having problems with their Hyrdo systems... And buyers are still having problems. Even on Corsair's own forum there are problems still being reported. :(

Reported problems have reduced a lot since the revision. The model number is 1227 and upwards. Those having problems have a model number lower than this, but only a few are having problems, especially with 12.2v or higher PSU output. They have not recalled the models because only a small amount have problems so it is still possible to buy a non revised model.

I know people that have been given new revised ones and they are still doing it.

I don't have a revised one and it doesn't do it. As I said it has reduced with the revision not gone away as you have confirmed. The problem stems with the power supply it appears.

And as the revision is quite new only time will tell how many do have problems.. both new and over time.

Very true, that is an unknown. The revision models are 4 months old now and I have yet to see people complain about these (other than the mention of one above). At least they are not faulty out of the box like some of the un revised versions were. Time will determine if the revision is truly successful in decreasing the number of faults.

Yes, 4 months old. But how many are actually out in use at this time? I do know there was a long delay from time the problem was figured and they were suposedly "available" and when people with RMAs actually started getting them. And RMA numbers compared to general sales is much less as well. Are the "revision" models all that are now being sold? Probably not, so how many of the old models are still setting on shelves waiting to sell?

I do understand the economics of having to recall a defective product. It's very expensive and kills cash flow. But Corsair should have bit the bullet and at least offered free advanced replacement to any and all who had defective Hydro series systems.. And by free I mean from buyer's door. Instead buyers have had to pay out of pocket, wait months, not receive timely updates as to what is happening, even received calls in middle of the night. Sorry. Corsair is on my poo list. I and don't see them rising above the smell in my lifetime. ;)

And it's not just their Hydro coolers. They advertised the TX550/650/750 as having "Ultra quiet fan" and you can hear them from across the room! And I'm not the only one saying it either.

The non revised model is still available and sold. The issues have been rare relative to overall sales which means a recall was not necessary. Revised models are for sale and have been for 4 months now. On another forum a user has posted a video showing that it is silent with no issues. I have also seen that they offer advanced and standard RMA, so you can receive the replacement before you send the faulty one back if you desire, apparently.

I'm not familiar with the TX series PSU. I use the AX series and that is silent.
